Hired William B Meyers for interstate move. They not only met but exceeded my expectations. My move included loading a 3 bedroom house to deliver part of load to a 1 bedroom apartment with the bulk of our possessions being delivered to a storage unit awaiting the completion of a home build. The estimation was done virtually and Bill did a wonderful job helping me “walk through “ my house to calculate weight and review what I would wrap and what would be left to the movers. Bill also suggested how to carefully prepare items I planned on wrapping myself. The crew that arrived at our home were there promptly at the start time. While we did the majority of the packing ourselves they took great care in packing the items left to them and handled everything very carefully.
Three of the five people that packed up the truck arrived at my apartment earlier than planned which I appreciated. They unloaded the items quickly and carefully then off to the storage unit! My concern was the amount of items we still had on the truck exceeded the capacity of the storage unit. We had the largest unit available. While I would be able to rent a second unit there would be an extra expense. The crew packed the unit like a jigsaw puzzle and not only fit all the items, had some room to spare! My entire experience from start to finish was fantastic. My calls and emails were answered promptly. Bill estimated the weight higher than all of the other 3 quotes I received and the cost was the second lowest (only about $100 higher than lowest estimate). The difference was Meyer estimated 1000 pounds more and offered a binding contract which they honored even when the actual weight came in 1000 pounds heavier.
It all came down to the quality of the moving crew. Harold was the driver and team lead. The entire moving team were wonderful. Very courteous and efficient loading and unloading. Harold did an amazing job loading the storage unit and took great care fitting the items in one item at a time. Meyer came recommended from a neighbor that moved from Texas and had high praise for their professionalism. He was spot on! Would I recommend...
Read moreIf I could give negative 10 stars I would...Let's start with... it took two follow up calls on my end to schedule a conversation with a sales person. Initial discussion with sales man went pretty smoothly and we did a virtual walk through to review items being transported. I receive his quote within a couple of hours and it is slightly more competitive than the two other quotes I had, so I decide to give them the business since they're in my home state and a "local" business. I approve the quote and call Bill Douma, district manager and aforementioned sales man, to let him know he has my business but I need to move the date forward by 4 days. He says no issue, will revise contract and resend to me. Next email I receive from him is proclaiming that this "district manager sales man" somehow issued a quote for a move to Nantucket, claimed he didn't realize it was Nantucket ISLAND so his quote didn't contemplate additional time, ferry costs, etc. So I call him, because this is not a conversation you have via email and he literally starts screaming at me - "I told you I apologize but ....."then proceeds to speak to me like I'm a 5 year old child. When I told him that I understood the process, having been to Nantucket many times and wanted clarification of his error given that we specifically discussed ferry timing, traffic, etc. during our initial call, he began screaming at me even louder. Frankly I have never in my life had a professional interaction like this and ultimately hung up the phone feeling blessed that this person was not someone I ever needed to speak with again. I am appalled that he interacts with the public and shame on any organization that employs neanderthals...
Read moreAs a long-time resident of Fairfield, CT, I had seen the William B Meyer, Inc. moving trucks in CT for decades. So when it was time for me to relocate, it was an easy decision to contact the company for moving services. My move was from CT to NM.
Bill Harner was my Moving Consultant. Bill is an experienced veteran of the moving industry. Along with reviewing and estimating my inventory, he provided excellent advice and suggestions to make the move both economical and efficient.
When a moving date was selected, I was contacted by Debra Rivera and Laura Meng to coordinate my move, answer questions and offer advice. They were very pleasant and kept me informed.
Moving day went very smoothly. A crew of 3 Meyer movers were very personable, professional and proficient. They arrived at the scheduled time and were very careful with every item to be shipped. The entire loading of the truck took a little over an hour.
At the other end of the move in NM, I was advised of the estimated time of the truck arrival. Like William B Meyer, Inc., these movers were also United Van Lines agents. A crew of 2 movers arrived on time and proceeded to unload the truck efficiently and carefully. They too were pleasant and professional and the unloading proceeded without incident in an hour and a half. All the inventory was accounted for and arrived undamaged.
This move was an overall positive experience. The entire move went as scheduled and was seamless. I was very pleased with the services offered by all the associates of William B Meyer, Inc. and I would highly recommend this moving company to anyone needing moving services regardless...
