Get ready to be transported back in time to when fast food was good! The service was fantastic and very friendly. I was a newbie so the clearly stated and well-lit menu made it easy to figure out the lingo and the different combinations. My 89-year-old father told me to come here for his dinner that night so I knew I was in for a treat. Everything was perfect! My dad had 2 long dogs loaded and I had a burger, both were absolutely delicious. To make things even better we both got chocolate shakes. Very creamy and thick, outstanding! It wasn't a busy night and the food was fresh. The buns were extra soft and the fries were hot. That meal was cooked for us and it wasn't just sitting on a warmer or under a heat lamp, or recooked with a microwave, it was freshly prepared. Thank you for a great simple traditional meal! The works here consists of yellow mustard, sauerkraut, sweet red relish (I’ve only ever had hot red relish before so this was a nice surprise) and their in house made hot sauce which is almost like a salsa. The flavors of this hot dog coalesced so wonderfully that I can definitely see myself driving to Stratford (completely out of the way of everything for me) just to get one. Good job, Cricket. I’ve been looking for a new, really good hot dog...
Read moreDrove by on Grand Opening and was too crowded, not out this way often anymore but HAD to stop by today. The cleanliness and simple decor is reminiscent of days gone by. The staff was friendly, the customers were enjoying themselves and the price was very reasonable! Last but not least the food was phenomenal!! In a day an age where fast food has become a mass produced commodity, The Cricket still puts a little "Love" into the food. Top quality buns (Frenchs?) Gooey cheese, well seasoned perfectly cooked beef. Crispy real bacon. Assembled with care and wrapped for travel. Supplying ketchups, salt and pepper WITH the fries along with a wood fork are details left out at the chain restaurants.
If you're from the area get out and have a bite to eat and step back in time...
