Update April 15th, 2024: C Smith ordered and had installed the marble slab for my parents after 20 years of asking for this! I am so pleased, and it looks great! They still have to backfill a bit of sod, but it looks very nice, finally. I am upgrading to 4 stars because I have hopes this latest set of owners really means their marketing. For those of you who have struggled with maintenance, give it another try, be polite, and hopefully they will come through for you too. Kudos for C Smith for carrying through the work. Thank you!
Update March 25, 2024: The call from C Smith saying the work was done was false. I went down there yesterday, March 24th, and the marble is still cracked, with no visible attempt at fixing this, in fact it was worse. My Dad was buried first and the marble was fine. 13 years later my mother was buried, and the crack happened within 2 or 3 years due to, I believe, improperly filling in on her side. I met with yet another counsellor who promised the same thing, "we are a new company and will definitely get this done in two months". So I am downgrading my vote to 1 star for the false report, and the beauty of the hills which was defeated by roads in horrendous disrepair. I truely want to believe this "new company" will put some cash into the roads, and some time into this fix, but we shall see. If this last chance doesn't work, I will take up matters with the MD Attourney General.
Initial review: Five stars for the lovely land and initial dealings. However, long term maintenence (according to contract) gets 0 stars. I have been trying for about 15 years to get the cracked marble headstone replaced (covered in the contract) and still to no avail. The customer rep writes up a work order, and within the year they have left the position with nobody taking up the case. Over and over, letting months go by with no notice, until I call again to see what's up.
I will update this review depending on my last try tomorrow before I submit a complaint report to the MD Attourney General and get that process going.
December Update: Cedar Hill reached out to me by email after my review and said they are "working with a vendor down the street" to get the cracked marble replaced. We shall see if they follow through. Update coming in January.
March 2024 - I got a call saying all the work has been completed! I plan to verify this in the coming week, and will update this again....
Read morePart 2. Sorry management but your call was useless in insuring that my first review matter would be taken care of in regards to getting a marker. You ensured me that Cheryl Baitson would be available on Tuesday at 10am but would call me to confirm beforehand. We'll didn't hear from her even up and until approximately 9 am on today, so I left a voice message to say I hadn't heard from her and to cancel out. We'll behold she calls me at 4:45 to remind me of the appt for today. I maintained that she didn't call to confirm first as promised. She replied with an "oh" and no apology but she is now available Friday and Saturday. Well since I have not been serviced promptly or properly, I am not available at her convenience. I am still going to proceed with my son's marker just not with them if possible. So, owner manager, please don't apologize for how your direct service personal and providers assist us. I don't think they honor you either. Just totally disgusted.
Part 3. Today I received two calls from their new manager Nadia?(sp) . I would like to say the apology felt sincere and accepting. Thus, I am going to move forward as planned, with her, and to getting my son's plot marker, at least, in a process to completion .
I feel the third time is a charm. So keep up with seeing and acknowleding all of the reviews ;good, bad, and indifferent, when warranted. Thank you
Part three...the new manager Nudia was truly a God sent. She was understanding, prompt, and we left feeling that our needs and wants were addressed professionally and not pressured to do anything now. I know that with leadership like hers then just maybe their sunken business can and will become the service in need, at the most vulnerable time of one's life, and be what it was once upon a time. My family has many sites there and I would like to refer others to try her. Tell her my reviews helped with making your choice too. Blessings upon...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews on this page, I really did not want to use Cedar Hill Cemetary, but my husband's grandmother bought cemetery plots there for her and the family in the late 1940's. My husband has multiple family members buried there and his parents want to be there as well, so in meeting their wishes, he and I went there today to make the arrangements for them, so when they pass, we won't have to figure all of this out then. Pearl was who helped him on the phone to verify the ownership of the plots and helped him with all of that and quickly set up today's meeting. Today she met with us and went through everything we needed to know in order to make the final arrangements for the burial of my in-laws when the time comes. She was unbelievably customer service oriented, knowledgeable and spent as much time with us as we needed and did not rush us through the process. She answered questions and volunteered information at times about things we would have never thought about. She is amazing and if the entire process continues as the experience we had today, all will be fine. If she told us once, she told us at least 3 times how to complain/file a complaint with the State regulators if we were not happy with the service. We also noticed that the cemetery just looked better in general and appeared to be more maintained and manicured. Multiple dead trees had been removed, it appeared the roads in the cemetery were in better shape than they had been and some of the buildings on the ground were under construction-repair. She also mentioned having a new general manager at the facility. I was very pleased with the service and experience we had today. I always am willing to put a review up for businesses when I think the service is poor, so I am very glad to be able to post this positive experience today. ...
