Food Lion — Local services in Summersville

As the saying goes, you don't realize how good something is until it is gone.

For 4 years, I have been without a Food Lion, and I forgot how dang good these stores are until I stopped in this Summersville Food Lion.

The layout is exactly the same, so there was no hunting for an item.

I wish I didn't live an hour and 10 minutes from this store.

Props to the employees and management at this location, because it was spotless, not even a finger print on the freezer doors. The parking lot didn't look like a trash dump, and the food bins were well stocked with plenty of variety, and very tidy.

When I checked out, about 9pm on a Sat, there was a friendly, human cashier at this Summersville Food Lion. I didn't have to wade through trash in the parking lot or deal with panhandlers.

My local grocery store (Kr**er) should be ashamed of itself.

I didn't realize how much I had adapted to the chaos and disorder at my local grocery store until recently shopping at this Summersville Food Lion.

Ordered a small cake a month and a half ago, the day I was scheduled to pick it up, the bakery employe said that they had forgotten about the cake and to come back 6 hrs later. When we picked the cake up and the order was completely opposite of what I had ordered, turns out instead of paying $12 for a small cake I had ordered, I had to pay $45 for a 10.5 pound cake. DO NOT RECOMMEN...

I like going here because of the variety and fair prices, but 2 stars due to an employee failing to give me the gift card I purchased and needing to do a charge back with my bank to get the money back. Store management is not responsive and basically made their mistake my problem. I'll still go there if I need something specific, but buyer beware if there is an issue you may be...
