Food Lion is convenient & not as crowded as going to Walmart. However, when they PUT THINGS "ON SALE," they will POST a HIGHER PRICE than THEY HAD BEFORE & then ACT LIKE it is a REAL SALE PRICE. A real sale price is taken from the regular price that is posted on a regular basis.
You are paying for convenience, plain & simple.
I like a particular pink lemonade that you mix in a 16-oz of water that comes in a box of 6. I use a 32oz. Yeti cup all day, so I use 2 packs for every cup x's 3 or 4 cups per day. Food Lion regular price is about $0 .45/box higher than Walmart. So you do the math on just one product. Now, think about this happening on a handful of other products & your grocery bill. Compare that to how much you would save if you went to Walmart or had Walmart+. The savings would pay for the app, have free delivery/pick-up & gas discounts.
If YOU USE VERIZON, they have a DEAL to get WALMART+ & PARAMOUNT for $10 & that saves you $2.95 from the regular subscription. If you already have a Walmart+ subscription, it is still available. Verizon will cancel the old one & set the new up for you & you get free access to the basic Paramount channel that you can always pay to upgrade if you want.
I'm not saying Food Lion is bad, but you will pay more unless you are someone who is heavy into coupons or other types of discounts. I am single & also on disability. therefore, many coupons don't work...
Read moreIt’s the only store I’ve been to that doesn’t have tahini. Not a common pantry item for most Americans but it is a staple for making hummus (super easy to make and if you have only eaten store bought you are missing out!!!) as well as Afro my vegetarian diet (it’s a good cheese replacer!). I’ve managed to find it at every other grocery like Publix and neighborhood Walmart.
I saw tahini on the website, so naturally I figured they would have it in the international section where other stores keep it. I asked an employee who handed me off to several ppl bc no one has ever heard of tahini - or hummus lol!! I will continue to drive further out to do my shopping in the larger town.
The employees were friendly and helpful though, I give them five stars.
If you don’t alter from the path of an American traditional meat-based diet than you won’t be disappointed like I am because really I should be shopping at...
Read moreOverall it was a decent store. BUT there was a huge issue with some of the items I purchased a couple days ago… There was a bin with cheese danishes and blueberry cheese bear claws on sale 5 for $5. Having a large family, we bought ten of them. The kids each had a couple over the course of a day and a half and liked them wel enough, but then they started having stomach aches. I thought nothing of it, just assumed it was a bug. Then I grabbed a danish. It tasted a bit off so I looked at the packaging. THE SELL BY DATE WAS JANUARY!!! This is late APRIL! I checked the remaining pastries and they were all January and February sell by dates. Now, one could argue that I should have checked the dates before buying or eating them, but come on! I shouldn’t have to! I should be able to trust that the store isn’t selling things MONTHS after their sell by date has passed. I’ve lost faith in the store at this point. How...
