Used to enjoy going there to pick up my monthly comics even though the owners are kind of full of themselves, self-important, the "look how cool we are even though we're nerds because we own a comic shop and that's cool now because of all the comic book movies and stuff makes nerds cool now." The owner also fancies himself a "character" if you know what I mean. However that's the Comics World and part of the experience. (think the comic book guy on "The Simpsons," that stereotype exists for a reason, it's because it's true š) But overall it's not a bad thing, even though it kind of sounds like it is.
As a comic book artist and an sci-fi fantasy illustrator (I never told them, I feared I would be treated differently.) I've been around those types for 25 years and it always makes me smile to know that some things will never change. And I hope they never do!
Also...kind of a bad location hard to get in and out of the store parking lot, but that's not a big deal, and they do have a lot of stock and a lot of great stuff, but very messy and disorganized stuff piled on top of stuff and cramped hard to walk around. Also when I went and picked up my comics one month, the next month they were in a completely different place, week after that they have been moved again. took me forever to find them, and I would call ahead or heavily monitor their Facebook page if I were going to go back...
Lately every time I've taken the trip down there they have been closed and locked up even though their hours online and on the door say that they should be open. There's even been employees inside with the lights on. So check Facebook there's often some sort of reason or excuse as to why...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have read through the review's of this place and I can't speak for everyone's experiences but I can speak for what I've seen. Greg is a very nice guy and seems to have the best intentions in regards to his customers and I can say that he truly cares about his business and is building on it every day. I love coming here and shopping for comics because the owner makes me feel like I am truly worth something. Like my choice to shop there matters. Comparatively to another comic that is quite know around here, Captain's Comics and Toys. Now that place is quite nice to shop at too but the employees are lacking there. I dont feel like my choice to shop there truly matters, so many already frequent there and often I notice they seem to order too little comics even though they know of their popularity just so that can later take them off the shelf and up charge. Greg does not do this. He order enough for everyone, even so to have multiple copies if they wish. He truly seems to care about the customer. Captain Comics on the other hand....seems to put profits first. Which is ok its a business. If I may, just watch and see how many people start to frequent Soundwave instead because of their superior customer service and care. One last note. I've seen some negative comments on here, remember no one is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāll start out by saying: absolutely visit this shop. Soundwave Comics is more than worth your time ā itās a place run by people who clearly care about what they do, and it shows. They offer a fantastic selection of comics, along with DVDs and music that cover a wide range of genres and interests. Everything on the main floor is well-organized, clearly labeled, and easy to browse, which makes the shopping experience smooth and enjoyable. The only real drawback is the number of boxes set off to the side, filled with collectibles, comics, and other items that arenāt yet for sale. It seems like theyāre working through a large overstock, which is understandable, but itās a little disappointing to see so many intriguing items just out of reach. Still, thatās a small issue in an otherwise excellent store. If youāre in the area ā Soundwave Comics should be your go-to comic shop. Tell your friends, support this amazing local business, and help keep their passion...
