Looking back at my trip last June (2024), I believe this was the ATV course I went on with my Contiki tour. If I find out to be wrong, I'll delete my rating, but I am fairly certain this is it. I really liked this course but I was very slow at it. This angered my Contiki partners (which I thought was unfair since I paid for it), and some lady (who is/was your employee) told me if I didn't get a move on, I would have to ride with her driving. That kinda made me angry. I knew I was capable of completing the course, just not at the rate and speed everyone was demanding me to. I witnessed an injury that one of our fellow Contiki members got on this course and I knew the dangers of speeding and injuring yourself on this course. She was okay and continued with the course, but she had a pretty big gash. I didn't want to push going too fast. I found the lady very unprofessional to encourage me to step down and I sincerely hope that isn't your company's mission.
About midway through, one of trainers came more specifically to help me and two others who were slower. He gave me some piece of mind. He told me that the lady wasn't a trainer and that I could finish the course at my own pace. I was mad that she had the right to tell us we couldn't complete the course at a slower rate. The guy basically told me to not listen to her. I do not remember either of their names sadly. When the guy (the main trainer) worked with us more slowly, I was able to pick up speed and finish the course no problem. All it took was his patience and understanding.
I knew from the beginning I would be slow on this course, but I also knew I could do it. I also knew I was going out of my comfort zone, but that this was one chance to do this activity that I might not do again. I almost didn't pay for this activity because of the dangers of it, but I decided to give it a go. Overall, it was good. I think I was more anxious on this course than I was with the hot air balloon, but I completed the course, so all the doubters can just (and I say this respectfully) shut up.
I'm giving it a 4 because the lady from your company was flat out rude and very unprofessional, but the guy who came to help us individually really made the whole situation better overall. He fixed the problem and allowed me to complete the course and informed me when and where I needed to modulate my speed and velocity over certain hills and turns. The lady is someone who reflects your company badly because she doesn't look at the individual, offer help or advice, and only wanted to rush us for the next group. She was a doubter and those people make situations worse.
Would I try this again? Certainly. It's not my favorite, due to the safety concerns, but I would only do it if I wasn't pressured to complete it in a given time. That just takes the fun and safety out of the course. I really did this just to say I did it once. The trainer who helped me should get a raise. He has confidence in his trainees and if it weren't for him, I might've ended it and asked for my money back, mostly because the lady you had out there was just not a good person to be riding and training with others.
Overall, this is a good course but I hope the company here continues to look at the individual and instill confidence in them to complete a course and not just doubt them from the start. Everyone can do this at their own level and pace if the workers here work with them. And no pressure if you decide not to, but it was a good course once I got into a group at my own pace without some crazy lady breathing down my back about how I wasn't going to finish the course on time.
I wish I had pictures like most of my reviews, but my phone was going to run out of batteries and my focus was to drive safely and not worry...
Read moreI booked a 2-hour ATV tour, expecting an exciting adventure, but it turned out to be a frustrating and painful experience. From the start, things went wrong. The guide, whose name I believe was Chris, seemed disorganized and unprofessional. Just 15â20 minutes into the ride, he stopped everyone, claiming his ATV had run out of fuel. We were left waiting in the desert while he returned to the base to get gas. During this time, I mentioned to the other guide (who was following us in a car) that I was experiencing severe pain in my thumb from pressing the accelerator. He checked my ATV and confirmed that something was wrong. I also noticed the other ATVs had smooth, easy accelerators, unlike mine. When Chris returned, I brought up the issue. Instead of addressing my concern, he dismissively took the ATV for a short spin and insisted nothing was wrong. There was zero empathy or effort to help. I decided to push through the pain and continue driving.
Things got worse when we hit an area of deep sand where multiple riders, including myself, got stuck. Chris completely lost his composure. He was swearing loudly and appeared overwhelmedâalthough he wasnât yelling at us directly, his behavior was unsettling and unprofessional. We wasted close to 30 minutes stuck there.
To add to the frustration, my ATV started malfunctioning. It kept shutting off every time we came to a stop, which happened frequently as we waited for others to catch up. The other guide was kind and helpful, restarting my ATV multiple times. However, when this issue occurred a fifth time, Chris snapped. Instead of helping, he shouted at me, told me to get off, and said I should ride back in the car. Without another word, he parked my ATV and left me there.
The second guide was very apologetic and understanding, even taking me back to the base. I want to emphasize that he was the only saving grace in this tour. However, Chrisâs hostility, lack of customer care, and inability to manage the situation were completely unacceptable.
At the base, I explained the situation to the staff, but there was no attempt to address or rectify what had happened. When Chris returned, he didnât even acknowledge me, treating me as though I was the problem.
In total, out of a supposed 2-hour tour, I only drove the ATV for about 25 minutes. The experience was stressful, painful, and a complete waste of money.
Recommendation: If you are a first-time ATV rider or someone expecting professional guides, avoid this company. And if Chris is assigned as your guide, Iâd strongly suggest asking for a refund...
Read moreThis was our family reunion group's 3rd ride with this company over the past several years. The first time was pretty good. This time I saw many flaws in their equipment and their setup. The quads were absolutely falling apart in obvious ways, not hidden at all.
The company does NOT buy/carry any helmet sizes under a Large. This is unsafe. Helmets should fit snug to work safely. I asked for my usual medium and they said that they are all Larges, XL, & XXL. None of the helmets have sun visors on them either. This is fairly important to block the desert sun from getting in your eyes. I should have checked the manufactured date on the chin straps. I am guessing that they are probably over the recommended 5yrs (non-commercial use).
I saw two quads where the exhaust muffler was not attached to the frame any longer. The frame support bolts were all missing and the muffler was just leaning against the tire. My wife's bike had a rope wrapped around the front bumper and had a big metal tow hook on it. The front bumper was only loosely attached on one side and the hook was loose and was dangling down towards the ground. I pointed this out to the guides when we were out on the course and they said it isn't a problem. That hook could have grabbed a wheel or part of the driveline under the quad and made her crash. So we at least switched bikes.
Many of the tires were completely bald, some of the brakes were so bad my sister-in-law could only use her front brake as her rear didn't work. My ignition switch was no longer attached to the plastic housing and was just hanging around the handlebars. Some of the clutch levers, brake levers, and throttle levers had so much friction in them they were barely usable, and some weren't at all.
It is like their mechanic quit. They are not keeping up with the minimum safety repairs.
Overall, we were disappointed in our decision to do this ride. We were excited to go out and have a good time. This time was underwhelming. Please do better guys, at least alleviate some of the...
