I recommend doing your research before letting Dr. Mehta perform any cosmetic procedures. I had Kybella and laser treatment and am left with very unfavorable results. My jowl area is improved from Kybella, however there is still fat under my chin and I didn't have much to begin with. The fat is almost loose when it's pushed on and my big concern is I have loose skin on my neck. I was very clear from the beginning that was a concern for me. What it appears is that the treatment was administered to the wrong area that didn't need to be treated. A red flag for me was at my first treatment I asked if there would be swelling and Dr. Mehta's answer was, "I'm injecting fluid into your face, so it's going to swell." I was in no way prepared for how significant the swelling would be or given any aftercare instructions. During my 2nd treatment Dr. Mehta hit a nerve that he previously avoided bc he knew there could be an issue, and for months when I would swallow or smile, one side of my bottom lip would pop out which eventually resolved. What is most upsetting though is my chest. I had laser treatments for redness on my chest that I was very self-conscious of and was getting married soon and wearing a strapless dress. Dr. Mehta said if we got rid of the superficial redness first we could go much deeper the next time. The first treatment was very superficial and had good results. In hind site I probably could have stopped there. The 2nd treatment burned so bad I almost couldn't take it and he had to use liquid nitrogen to cool my skin bc it was on fire. He assured me the redness would go away so I trusted him. The 3rd treatment he hardly touched me so I was concerned he knew he went too far but I hoped it would still heal. Again with these treatments I was never told what to expect or given aftercare instructions until I asked. Today my chest is permanently red at all times, sometimes worse than others but always there. The skin looks rough with broken capillaries all over. I wear spf everyday since the treatments and clothes to cover my chest but anytime heat from the sun, a heater, etc, touches my chest, covered or not, I turn fire engine red. It is beyond embarrassing and unpleasant. I waited until I knew my results were permanent and called to see if I could receive a refund for the laser treatment, I didn't even mention the neck bc overall my chest is my biggest concern. I was told I couldn't receive a refund bc it was past 7 months. My last treatment was 7 months and 1 1/2 weeks ago. I was also told it's bc I didn't go to my 2 week follow up after my last treatment. During this time I was getting ready for my wedding and I am also a director in healthcare and very busy and just couldn't make it. Dr. Mehta had already seen me since the 2nd treatment that burned me and had assured me everything would heal ok and since there were no new concerns I didn't make the appointment. I also called and Dr. Mehta said if there were no concerns I didn't need to come. I went to Dr. Mehta bc he had great reviews, a lot of which say how well he explains procedures. The fact he didn't explain anything to me or give aftercare instructions tells me he wasn't experienced in these treatments. As a health professional myself I think it is unacceptable to not offer any kind of solution and I hope my review prevents someone else from going...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't typically write reviews so take that for what it's worth. Everything I am stating below is fact, and pure truth regarding my experience. I am making no attempts to add fluff to this review. I have absolutely no idea how this place has a perfect 5 star rating.
I went to Arizona Skin Institute for Microneedling treatments. I've read a lot of hype about this treatment for acne scarring and that it had good results. After several treatments I had seen no differences, and I was told it can take three months for the results to show as the skin needs time to heal and collagen to reform. Six months later (and 6 treatments total) I see absolutely no difference, nor does anyone I know see any difference in my skin. It has been almost 8 months since my first treatment and still nothing so this is not accurate.
Unfortunately for me that was a lot of money gone for absolutely nothing. I never had any results and I signed up for the membership program that contractually makes you pay every month for a commitment of six months. You have 3 days to send an email and cancel from when you sign up. Unfortunately for me and my family we had an emergency and nearly lost our 12 year old son due to an autoimmune disease one week after I signed up. At this point I was told I can't cancel, and the only option is to pay for, or save your monthly credits/discounts towards another treatment, or forego the treatment period. Sorry guys, I'm not trying to get a treatment different from the one I actually signed up for with a specific goal in mind, and when you are paying emergency hospital bills, cosmetic procedures are not high on the priority list, but this office would not allow me to get out of it even when I nearly lost my child.
I was told my skin looked better than my initial before photo. I'd certainly hope so, I had spent 2 nights in the Phoenix Children's Hospital with my child when I came into your office so I didn't lose $300 on a monthly charge for nothing due to the contractual obligations. Again though, I'm sure I could just re-schedule and still spend those much needed funds on that cosmetic treatment at a later time, right?
Watch out for this place if you are going for cosmetic procedures, that's all I can advise. Once you sign up, you are locked in even if there are no results showing, they still keep charging you and hold you into that contract. I mean, these procedures were very uncomfortable for me personally, and with no results on top of it. How can you still charge me monthly? What if this is causing damage to my skin or I am extremely sensitive to the procedure? To keep charging me for something I can't medically tolerate should be criminal. But nothing I said...
