We went to a pre-opening event that included a movie screening. And I must say I'm a bit torn as to how many stars to give.
The place looks great with a large, full bar and a cafeteria style food area. Food and drink were provided and both were good. The drinks ranged from wine/beer to classic cocktail to house speciality cocktails. We tried a number of them and all were tasty. The food was better than I expected. The pizza is made in house and while not the greatest, it was surely better than what you'll find at other theaters. The beer sliders were excellent, while the fried chicken tenders were quite bland. Prices seemed high compared to restaurants, but average for what I'd expect at a theater (note out food was comped as samples).
Unlike other CMX theaters they don't deliver food to your seats. Rather, you'll either grab it from cafeteria line or kitchen window (they'll page you when ordered food is ready) and you'll carry it to your seat. The seats do not have built in trays, but I am told that the tray you get from cafeteria will fit into cup holder. As these were not yet ready I can't speak to it.
The seats were just ok. I think AMC is more comfortable. They only have 1 overall recline button so you can't recline back and foot rest independently. On the other hand the recline buttons are lit so you can see them in the dark (unlike AMC which, for reasons I can't understand, use unlit buttons). There is a ton of legroom on each row, which is nice. But there aren't any trash receptacles inside the theater which means your food debris (and tray) are with you for the entire movie.
We were in their Dolby Atmos theater (which includes sound from the ceiling). The screen is spectacular. The worst thing for me is the last row, where we sat. You can see from my picture that the last row has terrible acoustics. The rear surround speakers are mounted in front of the rear speakers do the back row doesn't get true surround sound. And the ceiling Atmos speakers end before the back row so you don't enjoy Atmos sound. Such a design flaw is inexcusable in a new theater and likely speaks to them wanting to fit in as many seats as possible without regard to everyone's experience. Avoid the back row (and even next to last row due to Atmos speaker placement),
So it's a mixed bag, but worth 4...
Read moreUpdate 5/23/24: visited to see Lilo and Stitch with our kids, and had a really creepy experience at the ticket line with a man wearing a black face mask and speaking to the kids in a strange voice. He worked there, but wouldn’t give his name. Both of our children complained to me that he scared them and made them uncomfortable. Again, he would not give his name, and approached us before and after the movie. Both times we told him to back away from our kids. Very weird behavior from a theatre employee. I tried to call management at the theatre but no one answered.
Update 12/26/24: just had another really bad experience at this theatre. They really need to consider new management. It was so dirty. O was surprised to see popcorn and soda spills in the lobby everywhere. Trash like empty cups and straws that hadn’t been picked up. The theatre was in the same condition. Sticky seats, dirty floors and trash everywhere. I didn’t see any cleaning crews so I’m not sure if they just stopped doing that or what. Their e-ticket machines were also down so we visited the desk to get our tickets and the woman was extremely rude. She couldn’t figure out how to print the tickets and we had to wait for her to call a manager who had no problem doing it (finally). This place continues to go downhill.
Earlier review: It never ceases to amaze me how unkind people can be. There was a tornado warning affecting Tallahassee today, and I was caught on the road just trying to get home. I couldn’t see and the wind was so strong it was moving my car. I pulled over at CMX to seek shelter, and the man at the door literally pushed me back out into the storm and told me to get back in my car and move it. Until now, we have been regular CMX customers, but my family will NEVER go to this theatre again. I spoke to a manager afterward who apologized profusely after I explained the situation. Again, can’t believe how unkind people can be. Especially in a dangerous weather situation where safety...
Read moreThis is the only theater I'll ever go to. Period. Never EVER will I go anywhere else. Not just because CMX is 1000% better than AMC in every single way fathomable, but because.... when I went with my little brother last weekend? My little brother only has a few days to spend with his family and only THAT TIME to spend with just me.... And the manager and associates here? When we got there a bit late for our anime film, I had my brother go in and sit and I went back out because his dream was the two of us in a theater with a beer. It's all he wanted and all I wanted. And the only showing we could go to bc of his time constraints (NAVY) was at noon, which also happens to be when CMX opened that day. Keith and Ms. Shalandra (I'm probably misremembering both of their names, and literally EVERYONE working helped me) did so much more than go above and beyond, y'all. They not only opened up the Snacks and Food and Beverages portion of the theater that absolutely wasn't due to open yet.... They also literally opened a till or used a different transaction receiver device.... Like seriously. CMX? YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM ALL MORE. I mean it. Staff them BETTER and pay them $5-$10 more. For management I demand you actually freaking listen to me and toss out BONUSES like it's MARDI GRAS at this location. Because I had one day with my little brother. And the good people at CMX CINEMAS FALLSCHASE made it the best memory of our entire trip, but I'll never EVER forget their kindness. Customer service doesn't even begin to cover how phenomenal this manager and the entire staff was on Monday 9/15/25 at 12:00pmEST (we were late so more like 12:20pm)..... I mean it. Please follow up with me if you need to. They made it the single best movie experience I've ever had in 37 years of being alive. They were beyond kind, beyond generous, beyond 10/10. They were amazingly empathetic and caring humans. I'll never buy a ticket for another movie from...
