I currently attend this school and I have for two different programs. Let me say first that A LOT of people do not read the description of Lively. It is NOT a place for you to be if you are looking for an instructor to teach you. They tell you this upfront, so sorry for those who did not listen AND read. SECOND! Lively has a self-paced program that requires A LOT of reading so if you don't like to read, DO NOT COME. We are in a class from 8-4 PM M-Th and I can say I love the way they do things. Lively will not hold your hand in learning. It is all self-paced. They give you three semesters to complete the course, so at that point, it's all up to you. Lively is a technical center so EVERYTHING will be hands on. If you are looking for a parent-like instructor, Lively is not your place. They do this because they want to teach you to be independent. A lot of people come here and want to play around and sit and do nothing, which is not the plan Lively offers. Once they see that you are SERIOUS, they will do any and everything to help you. They even have people come to classrooms looking for fresh, new employees. Having had attended colleges and universities, Lively is the best place as I am a hands-on learner, so if you are too, this is your place. And someone said this school is ghetto...um not it's not. Those people that you saw that made this place ghetto did not care about their future and were only here to get FA, so don't let that comment stray you away. I love this school and I always forever be a...
Read moreI went here years ago for the electrical program. What a sad, sad, joke. I hope things have changed because I absolutely wasted my time and money here. I started out in the summer program and it was just me and two others. We pretty much sat in the classroom doing independent study to prepare for taking safety tests. the instructor was pretty much checked out and taught us nothing. By the time the fall semester started I expected a full classroom of students and some real learning to begin. Nope. There were like 3-4 students and the same lazy instructor. He just didn't have any idea how to teach. He claimed he was a master electrician but that didn't really help. He would bounce all over the place and everything was over our heads. I took the class to learn about electrical work. He had us trying to fix equipment around the school. I had NO IDEA what I was doing and neither did anyone else. I learned nothing here. After I realized it was a dead end I dropped out after midway through the 2nd semester. I was no more knowledgeable about electricity then as I was the first day. About a year later I bought a book at home depot on home wiring. I learned MORE from that in 15 minutes, not kidding. There was NO rhyme or reason to this guy's teachings. One day it'd be industrial electrical work, and the next it'd be about wiring motors. All we needed to really learn was how to do basic residential electrical work. ...
