I was referred to Radiation Oncologist Dr Raj Bendre here by my Urologist, Dr. Charles Yowell (a TMH Physician Partner in private practice) and I believe they have saved my life.

I was extremely skeptical when my PSA got high as all research indicated that prostate cancer is way overtreated in the US. But I was too skeptical, and went through several urologists, including experts at one of the most prestigous clinics in the country, before finding Dr Yowell here in Tallahassee. He took the time to explain what was going on in the great detail I needed. Despite being a surgeon, he explained exactly why surgery would probably not be successful due to the advanced stage of my cancer (prostate fuses to other organs and separation causes a lot of damage) and referred me to Dr Bendre.

Dr. Bendre then spent over an hour with me answering every question and showing me the research on the Internet that supported his judgement. I was convinced.

Dr. Bendre, his nurse Maci, the radiation techs like Kori and Nick, the receptionist Julie and everyone else there have daily gone above and beyond what I've experienced anywhere else to not only provide exceptional medical care, but to care for me as a person. Those expressions of caring gave me hope, and may make the difference in my recovery.

Having completed 44 treatments, we now wait a few months to see how well it worked. Regardless of the outcome, I've no doubt I've received the best of care.

There are no better healthcare people, and there is no better place to heal than TMCC.

UPDATE - 3 weeks later Got a PSA which we expected to still be high while prostate heals from the radiation, but it's already down to 0.4! (virtually cured) If you are in this situation, get a referral to Dr Charles Yowell, Urologist (in private practice in Tallahassee) and if he says surgery is not likely to be successful, consider radiation treatment from Dr Bendre, Radiation Oncologist at Tallahassee Memorial...

The Cancer Center care staff always goes above and beyond in providing exceptional care. They were attentive, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I feel supported and well taken care of throughout my short stays. Thank you! I don’t remember everyone name but the few people that goes above & beyond for me is Nurse Alyssa, Nurse Rhonnie Nurse celeste, & Nurse Missy. these nurses are the Best!! They never miss my vein when doing my IV, and I’m a very Hard Stick! I’m so used to have multiple sticks just to get my Iv in my arm but with them I always feel so comfortable! Also I want to extend my Thanks to Mrs. Claire Auxiliary Volunteer for the snack carts & last but certainly not Least the techs named Tech Britney, Tech Karena , & Tech Mani “KT or TK” that’s his nickname I’m not sure his real name & I don’t want to get it wrong. There’s one more person Tess is a musician w/ a Ukulele I love when she goes around singing & teaching us to play. Anyway These guys at the cancer center are always incredibly supportive and compassionate. They provide top-notch medical care and emotional support every time!. I always feel truly cared for and grateful for their expertise...

in the summer and fall of 2020, I underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment for throat cancer. Drs. Perez and Marina were excellent in their clinical expertise and care and concern for my family providing support and information. Dana Miles R.N, my patient navigator was a godsend in being with me every step of the way and assisting with appointments both inside and outside the center. Always having a kind word for me and helping me through some tough times. The radiation lab staff were tremendous as were the infusion staff. The nurses in the infusion area were quite literally, angels. Caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, clinically skilled in administering IV's, chemotherapy, blood drawing, and making sure all my needs were met-just amazing people. I am still seeing Drs. Perez and Marina for follow-up care and am always treated with care and concern. A special shout-out to Julie at the front desk for her cheerfulness and assistance on every visit.
