Goodwood is a great location to host small, medium, and even large events, and the centralized location is super-convenient. Joe Manausa Real Estate hosted our annual Spring Family Carnival at Goodwood and had nearly 500 people in attendance. The facilities were just what we needed, and all had a good time. The weather was perfect, and we were able to set up many of the attractions underneath the shade of the several-hundred-year-old southern live oaks in the yard. These trees are a Tallahassee treasure, and we certainly appreciated their shade during our event. The yard at Goodwood was large enough that we could spread out and let the children play and have a good time while the adults could have discussions without having to compete with a lot of background noise. The historic buildings scattered around Goodwood are a whole other conversation, as they give the facilities the appearance of "old Tallahassee." We used them mostly to provide power for our bounce houses as well as a location for our face-painting station for the kids. One note was that there were power issues, so it was fortunate we brought back-up generators to run the outdoor kitchen and bounce houses. Overall, a 5-star event hosted at a 5-star facility, and I highly recommend Goodwood for anybody looking for the ideal Tallahassee...
Read moreVery sad and disappoints that you do not adequately tell the story of slavery at this plantation . . . many plantations are telling the story of slavery and you barely touch the subject . . . Most reviews are from white people . . many other plantations are telling the unvarnished truth. You are leading white people who visit to believe the 'fabrication' that many Southerners continue to believe so when I read the gushing reviews of many white people here, I am saddened that you are not educating them to the realities - you give scant attention to the imprisionment, the cruelty inflicted on blacks. Shame on you. Thank Goodness there is a documentary that details the truth. . . I enourage your white visitors to watch it, "Invisable Histry: Middle Florida's Hidden Roots. I am a graduate of FSU and studied Criminology and it dawns on me that the actual 'crimes' of Southern enslavement are being 'tamped down' and largely ignored at your "grand" plantation. Please tell ALL the truth . . . consult with plantations like Boone Hall who are doing a fabulous job of telling the 'entire' story of how these white people fed off the carcasses and bones of...
Read moreMy Mom and I were given a wonderful private tour (not booked privately, but no one else was there at the same time we were) of this beautiful home. I was especially intrigued by the realization that all of the items in the house are original to the home. So often I find on historical house tours that the items are from the representative period, but are not original to the home. It would be a great tour for older children to show them what life was like in earlier times. The price for the tour was reasonable, and we had two lovely and knowledgeable guides who answered any question we could think of! No photos are allowed inside the home, but you can take photos outside the home and on the grounds. It is free of charge to wander the grounds if you aren't able to take the house tour, and there are informative signs throughout the lovely park-like grounds. There is a cafe that is open for lunch on the...
