Writing this as a public service announcement.
TL/DR: This is not the EOY of the reviews prior to spring/early summer 2025, be aware.
This salon was sold in spring 2025. Nearly all of the stylists mentioned below - Caroline, Vivien, Lauren, Jasmine have all left and left very quicky, and Tamara, the former owner, is on leave. Some things to know:
The new owner, Kitty, quickly raised prices on all services, without notifying clients or posting a sign at the desk. I'm a middle aged woman who has received services in several major cities and smaller towns since the early 1990s and every salon and massage clinic ALWAYS posts changes in pricing, promotion of a stylist from level to level (and related price increase), and any other changes, a minimum of 3 months in advance and more commonly, 6 months. Additionally, she also added a credit card charge without notice, though that seemingly was removed at my last service there. I did speak with Kitty about this at my last service and she seemed surprised and unaware of this industry standard. She was initially defensive and I had to explain more than once that this is the client experience and if you want to keep clients, you don't try to pull one over on them, which is the appearance these practices are giving.
After the sale of the salon, I had some, um, interesting experiences. They brought on a nail tech, and the owner repeatedly asked me on one visit about my nails, telling me about having a new tech, and then separately, bringing me polish to show me that they had "my color" (just happened to be a color on my nails at that time), too, and I should come here for nails. I told her more than once that I had a tech already (clearly, since my nails were done). She also came over to me when I was getting extensions done, while my stylist was away from the station, and asked me about the extensions, which I thought was odd. Lastly, I received a weird text from the salon once to "Barbie or Ken..." What?
In June, my stylist had to leave quickly for a family emergency just after completing lashes for me, but before the adhesive was dry. She told me that Kitty would check on me and remove the lash tape and check me out. After already witnessing how things were going, I started counting songs on the music station to see how long it would take. After a few minutes, another stylist nervously told me Kitty would be over shortly. TWENTY minutes later, she still had not come over and same stylist called her attention. Kitty came over and asked if I needed anything. Um, yes, I need you to take this tape off and be sure everything is good. It was like she was unaware of what happens at the end of a lash appointment. It was just really odd.
This salon is not the Eyes On You of the five star ratings listed below, and that there is no notice on the google page of new ownership is also... interesting. The new owner seemed nice enough at first, but in the end came across as pushy and somewhat aggressive, and seems to lack understanding of industry standards. Raising prices and adding credit card charges without communication to the consumer in any way is deceptive and leaves a consumer feeling taken advantage of and that the owner is trying to increase profits on the back of the client and hoping the client doesn't notice. Prices at this salon were already higher than I paid for services in Chicago and in other FL cities, but comparable to the other South Tampa salons. I paid them because the stylists - Lauren, Tamara, Vivien in particular - are all highly skilled and some are national educators in their trades. But they are gone and prices are now higher and I can't make that make sense. I wish Kitty the best and hope she can be successful in this new endeavor. Being a business owner and managing people is hard, and it isn't for everyone. It is sad to see a business that was thoughtfully built over decades decline so sharply under a new ownership. I felt it important that people know the current state of EOY and that they not expect the stylists below...
Read moreI'll start by saying, this is the worst hair experience I've had in my entire life.......
I originally got hand tied extensions done in my hometown. It was going on week 7 and I was thinking about flying home to Ohio to get them moved up, but I decided to look for a salon in Tampa that could provide the service to me. I have blonde hair which gets highlighted about every 6-8 weeks so I also needed to be color matched and toned to keep the match going, while dealing with Tampa's hard water.
After looking at salon reviews online, I called around to a few for pricing. Eyes On You Salon really caught my eye with a 4.8 review and GREAT pricing that I was quoted over the phone by the salon OWNER herself.
A few days before my appointment, I receive a text from a former employee of the salon that said I had booked with her and that she has now moved salons, inquiring if I wanted to get my services at her new salon. I was confused and called Eyes On You Salon because they also sent me an appointment reminder to still come to their salon.
I called to speak with the business owner and she was very unprofessional, stating that this former employee was obviously trying to steal their business. I expressed my concerns and defaulted to trying to cancel my appointment with the salon, but the owner insisted that I would have a great experience, even when I expressed being nervous about having a blonde professional. She coerced me into keeping the appointment and telling me I couldn't cancel because I had already paid a deposit. She basically assured me that I would have a wonderful experience.
When I arrived, I was greeted by the owner and only one other hairstylist in the building. A woman named Chyna was my given hairstylist and she was so kind. I was already having a lot of anxiety this morning so I just really wanted good results. When she began, we were getting along great and I felt really good about the experience. It seemed to take a very long time as I was creeping on 5 hours. She removed my hand tied extensions, then began to correct my blonde hair with highlights, and finished with a toner. She washed the extensions separately, but never toned them.
She then proceeded to install back my extensions. I noticed that she was using beads, which I had never had on my previous install so I asked a lot of questions and she assured me this was normal and that my previous lady in Ohio just did such a great job that I couldn't see them.
She curled my hair once finished and asked to get a few photos on the flower wall. Once finished, I was ready to go as I had plans for the day with my boyfriend. I ended at the cash register with the owner and my total was 892 dollars and I left 100 dollar tip just simply because the stylist was so nice and actually helped me with my anxiety whether she realized it or not.
Once I got home, I could see pieces of my extensions showing plain as day through my hair. I started to inspect the extensions and noticed how horrible of a job she had just done. I became very upset and saddened by the way my hair looked. My real hair did not at all match the extensions as my extensions were more of a golden blonde and she toned my real hair to be an ashy, grey tone.
The extensions were so noticeable that I had to wear a hat to dinner that night. They started coming out. There was a long string in my hair that was obviously the sewn hair starting to fall from the thread. I texted the salon owner to let her know my experience and included videos and pictures. She did not seem at all concerned and told me to come in tomorrow and we would fix it. She did not offer a full refund when I came in and still charged me for a butchered job. She blamed my scalp and told me I shouldn't have had extensions. There is nothing wrong with my scalp & why didn't she say that from the JUMP??? STUPID

Read moreMy sister and I were traveling to Tampa from NJ for a wedding, so I looked months in advance for a salon where we could get our hair and makeup done. Eyes on You had great ratings, so I booked using Vagaro.
I was a little worried before walking in the door, as I've been to many salons before where the staff was unfriendly from the beginning and I couldn't wait to get out of there. This was absolutely not my experience at Eyes on You. Caroline and Vivien welcomed us in, offered us mimosas and I immediately felt at ease.
We booked the express makeup, which doesn't include foundation, since I'm wary of foundation and how it can look caked on if not done properly. Caroline explained the makeup options again, without being pushy at all, and my sister decided to go for the full makeup option. Vivien started makeup on my sister while Caroline started on my hair. They asked us what we were wearing and what look we were going for. I have very straight and long, but thinning hair and asked for a side updo with curls to provide some volume. Caroline was spot on and even added fresh flowers to my updo! Meanwhile I saw how amazing my sister's makeup looked and absolutely loved it; her foundation looked flawless, so I decided to go for full makeup as well.
When we switched, I let Vivien know about my skin type, foundation concerns and also told her that I wanted really light makeup since my eyes water a lot and I tend to rub them. She honored my request and applied only eyeshadow and a little bit of mascara, but still created a beautiful look. And, my foundation looked just as natural as my sister's did (I am now a Clinique Moisture Surge fan, as that helped moisturize my skin so the foundation could soak in and not just sit on top of my skin). I looked over and saw the beautiful side braid updo that Caroline had created.
The whole time we were all talking and learning more about each other and we were having such a fun time, it felt like the event before the event. We could tell that they love what they do and they truly are artists for the face and hair. Another team member, Kiddy, came in at some point and was just as friendly as Vivien and Caroline. My experience at Eyes on You was beyond a 10; I wish I could pick up the salon and staff and move them to my area so I could go there anytime I need my makeup and hair done! And our hair and makeup held up the whole night in the Tampa heat. Thank you to Caroline, Vivien and Kiddy; I am so grateful for the wonderful service...
