I showed up 30 minutes before my appointment time after having gone there four times this past year unsuccessfully trying to renew a driver's license. The lady was nice when I walked to the door, not entering the building as the sign instructed. She said she wanted to make sure I had an appointment and that my name was on the online reservation list which it was. To renew a license required a number of documents to prove that you're a US citizen and a Texas resident even though you have been lived here for years and have all the credentials and a CDL with HazMat by the way. While I waited an hour beyond the time of my appointed appointment time four different individuals showed up with their children to have a driving test with a document printed out by this office telling them to be there today for a driving test. They were informed that they don't arrange those tests at this office and they were mistaken and would have to go online and do it again. Arguments ensued with four different groups of adults with their children and the agents. After about an hour and a half wait I was able to get my license because there was only one person working the desk at that time and there were a number of people standing out in the windy cold on a cloudy day because they can't enter the building. The building only allows four people inside including two being serviced if there were actually two agents there helping people. Only one was working when I went inside.
I live in Hood County but in the past I have gone to Parker County to get my license because their office is so efficient and fast. They handle things politely and quickly unlike this office. When this office was on Pearl Street in Granbury, it operated very well. It's been since the move to Tolar that it is just become an unworkable situation. I tried to make an appointment in Parker County but other people have discovered how efficient they are and it would be a long wait before I could get in. If a private or retail business operated with the inefficiency of this office they would not be in business very long. Read moreI just needed my license renewed. Which in itself only takes 10mins. I would recommend this place, most of the employees were kind and knowledgeable. Heres were they lost 2 stars: I arrived 30mins before my appointment time, which was at 8am. Checked in got ticket number A0002. Waited till 8am and instead of calling ticket numbers the employee took the man closer to the door. His appt was at 8:15. Then she ignored me and took a man and his son first. These men should be ashamed, they both arrived 25mins AFTER me and instead of letting this lady know I was here first they went with it. Very sad when others don't follow the rules or have any kind of integrity. Also this employee arrived after me, so I know she knew I was there first. So please know, your appointment time and ticket number do not matter! Just stand as close as you can to the door! Don't worry about social distancing, like I did if you want to be seen in order of arrival. It would've been a nice experience if they called tickets or at least saw ppl as they arrived, not those who stand in front of the door not worried about social distancing. I would give it a zero, but there were some people who actually greeted us when we first came in. The lady we were assigned to (I didn't get her name, sadly) was highly rude. It wouldn't be surprising if she was racist, considering the fact that I was literally being respectful to her and handing her everything, yet she had the nerve to throw everything back to me. If I'm handing you items directly into your hands, then there's no reason why, when it comes back to me, it should be on the desk. Not to mention, she also had the nerve to touch my items as if she didn't want to, which I don't understand, considering it's her job. I don't really care about your beliefs or your politics because I just came here for one thing and one thing only. I literally drove a whole hour to get to this place just for this lady to be acting some type of way, which was completely disrespectful.
