Regretfully I have to update my review - TLDR - Frame Failed. When I purchased the FJ there was a fair bit of rust on the frame and undercarriage, which I was naturally concerned about. I expressed this to the sales team and they all assured me it was superficial and that they would have their mechanic go through everything with "a fine tooth comb" (he was supposedly a former air force mechanic). My purchase was predicated on his findings and despite my gut telling me to pass, I trusted their word when they came back to me and assured me it was sound. They did do a rust mitigation treatment, along with a few other things to sweeten the deal (CV's were worn, tires shot ect), so to their credit that was appreciated. A week after I bought the vehicle I noticed my power steering reservoir was a bit low. As it turned out, one of the power steering rack lines had rusted out and was leaking. I paid $750 out of pocket to have this fixed by a mechanic in my hometown. I didn't inform them of this and just carried on, chalking it up to bad luck. Over time I also noticed that the hood latch was broken and the rear door lock was disconnected from some reason (not ideal living in a city). Ok, it is what it is. I fixed these things myself and just tried to accept that I bought a used car and thankfully I have the skills to fix these things. But so much for the fine tooth comb eh? Fast forward to this past September and I find a massive CRACK in my frame. Imagine my horror, my gut was correct. All value of the vehicle now gone. Cherry on the top, cooked on the bottom. People despise used car dealers for a reason and well, sure enough I was a sucker who took men at their word. Lesson learned. Let this be a warning to you. Avoid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I could not be happier with my experience here. Troy was an absolute pleasure to work with and he truly went above and beyond for me. Everyone else I met including the owner was fantastic as well. Beautiful well curated inventory, museum quality showroom, great location with some killer roads to test drive on. Laid back vibe all around, these are car enthusiasts and it really shows. Low dealer fees, competitive pricing and ultimately an easy stress free transaction. Thank you all again.

I purchased a 2017 VW GTI online from Topsfield Motor Company and had it delivered on July 8th. The staff was courteous and responsive throughout the entire process. However I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of the car. For how much they claimed verbally over the phone that "no one maintains and services our cars like we do", so far I am not impressed. Visually, I immediately noticed the front passenger side of the vehicle needs body work done, as the grill and hood are not aligned properly. 3 days after the car was delivered, the rear wheels began giving off a loud squeaking and grinding noise. This resulted in a $900+ rear brake repair because whomever did the last brake job used incorrect hardware. The mechanic also noted that the oil pan was leaking, which will be another $900+ repair. I understand that ultimately these cars are sold "as-is" and there is always risk involved with used car purchases. Maybe my expectations were too high for a 7 year old car. But ultimately I'm not sure I would buy from them again or recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a car.

Picked up a *mint* Jetta over the weekend from these folks. Rick was great to work with, everything was exactly as presented in online posting (cargurus). Lowest dealer fee I've ever seen anywhere ($100!) and absolutely no nonsense at all. I spent less than a hour total physically at the dealer across two visits. First to test drive, second to sign. I spent 8 hours on the road (2 hours ONE WAY) for this deal (~2K below local options), and the experience was so positive, I'd do it again. Even the finance guy was easy to work with. No sales pressure, no finance pressure. I came with financing in hand and they beat my rate. I cannot stress enough how nice is was to not have gone through the "traditional" dealer experience. It was so straight forward, we could have done the deal over the phone. I've already recommended this place to my other car shopping friends.

If you're looking for a refreshing, no sales pressure but informative car buying experience of a well maintained and serviced used car, especially European luxury, TMC is the dealership to visit and worthy of consideration on your dealerships list. They clearly are selective of the trade-ins and cars they purchase and for a small dealership that's important and makes TMC unique.

I recently purchased a 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport SL after visiting three Nissan dealerships that weren't good experiences even though they had cars. It was the sales tactic that became exhausting and at times, absolutely intolerable. This car was fairly priced and in immaculate condition. Their doc fee was 2/3 less than dealerships which is more reasonable for its value. I worked with Tim and Rick throughout the process who treated you as if you were next door neighbors. Communication from the initial phone call to text messages and emails were timely, direct and honest.I liked the fact I didn't have a salesman in the car for the test drive. The test drive is for the buyer, not the salesman! Total buying process was phenomenal, approximately 2 hrs. Compare that to 1/2-full day at a dealership to either walk away or get coerced into an unhappy deal. Been there, done that. Never again. To the TMC owners and staff, I salute you.

To all you potential buyers reading this review, if you see a car in their inventory, I highly recommend a visit and a chat with TMC. Topsfield may be a bit of a travel but it's worth it....

Being 21 years old, this would be my second time working with a dealership for a used vehicle. I can confidently say that my experience with Tim & Rick at Topsfield Motor Co was 110% better than my previous experience. I worked with Tim when getting my vehicle, in which he was very helpful and informative in terms of working around my availability and giving details about the vehicle. Living a few hours away, I wasn’t very interested in making two trips down. Tim made it happen, and was able to get the vehicle serviced and ready to go in a very timely manner, which I appreciate very much. He made sure to leave no stone unturned when it came to details about the vehicle, so I confidently knew everything about it before leaving.

Working with Rick in the finance department was a great experience as well. He explained the deal and warranty’s very thoroughly, how each one operated, and put together the best options for me and my budget. He was very honest and got me out the door in a timely manner which I also appreciate given my situation. I was confident leaving his office knowing he did his best for me and my situation.

Overall I couldn’t ask for an easier experience when getting a new car. Although the dealership is a ways away from me, I wouldn’t think twice about making the drive again for my next vehicle. I’d recommend anyone to Tim and Rick, and again thank them and the rest of Topsfield Motor Company for the...
