Staff including manager are not respectful. At first I thought the scan it was practical, you scan your items put them in your bag and just pay avoid holding up the line, and the whole packing thing, simply fast and easy... NOT!!!! I have use the scanner device over 5 times, but last week while I was at the checkout the system automatically called for help... the employee came with out explaining any thing to me other than she needed to see if the scanner worked, ( mind you if she wanted to know if an item was scanned all she had to do was look at the hand scanner device which clearly shows what items have been scanned) she told me rudely to move back and started to un pack all of my items rescanning them as if I was a street rat who needs to steal and on top of that she made a mess!!! (Rewind to 10 mins prior to that, I was previously on another self checkout but because I forgot the sugar I left the self checkout and the same employee was already eyeing me giving me dirty looks but I ignored her) .... I was so pissed off that my mind blocked and all I thought was to pay once she finished embarrassing me in front of a full, packed supermarket, and not make a scene since my toddler was present... I arrived home called the supermarket and asked to speak to a manager, he explained to me it was a random audit done to anyone who decide to use the scan it system, but he kept justifying his employee actions and rudness by saying I am not the only one to get audit ignoring the fact that she was not doing her job accordingly... I always go to stop & shop supermarkets, and never have I seen anyone being "auidit" and if that is the case, I don't mind being audited because I'm an honest person, but I have the rights to know what was going on, she should of explained the procedure and let me know what was happening and not put her hands all over the groceries I had picked and throw them in the cart as she wished!!! I would of gladly cooperated, and handed her the random items she needed in order to complete the audit... all the rudeness and aditude was not require !!! The manager was a total idiot who just made excuses for her behavior.. i didn't even catch his name since he brushed me off so fast... it's the closes stop & shop to me, and it was so convenient... but sadly I cannot fore see this event and how they made me feel... I have a family of 5 5herefore i always spent alot of money there every two weeks... guess i will be taking my money elsewhere, where it's needed, because clearly that supermarket does not need the money of its clients to survive... it's not the first bad review I see, but I never thought much about them since I am Hispanic and didn't see that I was being treated...
Read moreI’m a huge stop and shop supporter - sometimes I feel like I live there because I go so often. However, this last visit had me very upset and angry. I went in for a few things and was able to get on the 12 items or less register. The cashier at this register seemed to be in a hurry. The person in front of me was packing up her bags and instead of helping her the cashier moved on to scanning my items. The cashier had my items completely scanned and piled up in the corner because the person in front of me was still bagging. The customer apologized to me but I insisted it was okay and to take her time - instead of helping the customer, the cashier just stood and watched her. When it was my turn to pack up my groceries I handed the cashier my phone that had my stop and shop card on it and asked if she could scan it and she advised me no because she already put a card in for me. I put my phone down and started to pack my bag and I noticed the cashier was getting annoyed so I put my debit card in the machine and put the last few items in my bag, I noticed the cashier reach over the credit card machine and pinpad and she hit a button but I assumed it was just the “next” button on the screen because I was taking too long - I put my bag in my cart and put my pin in and hit enter. The cashier handed me a receipt and $80 cash. I told her I didn’t ask for cash back this can’t be mine and she insisted that I did and if I didn’t want it to go to customer service. So I went to customer service and the woman there basically told me that the money is out and there isn’t anything they can do. I left there very upset and angry. I understand if there is a line of people at the register but there wasn’t. The staff there needs to be more helpful and while I don’t think it was on purpose, I think when she reached across the register, it was on the “do you want cash back” screen and she hit “$80” option instead of the next button and that’s why I got the $80. Read moreEverything you need ,easy to find. Can't say prices here are best because "Inflation" is everywhere including "Stop & Shop". Yes, they are no better then any other on that subject. Had great experience when I went to seafood counter. Standing there for while until the cold cut counter employees next to it offer to call someone , but that person was on break which they are entitled to,respectfully. When she got there she was the most down to earth person very respectful, professional. Cold cut lines ain't so bad , faster then any other place. Only complaint is salad items (beware) Inspect them greatly. I purchased about 12 salad bags (spinach/ pre salads / mix greens / cut leafy greens /ec.. and all dated for may 25 to sell by ...and they all went bad. I refrigerated them on proper temperature (41°F (5°C) went shopping on may 15/16 had to toss out 5 bags I had left on may 19 . It was bad. I keep it stored in separate fridge, not daily fridge. I also notice most employees don't really talk much to step in and help , you gotta ask atleast 2 times before they understand, they get very annoyed when self check out needs a assistance to resolve scan issues. The shopping carts are very smooth. The supermarket is very clean. The deals and variety of products are good. Just check the dates on all items , and even ask the deli employees the date from which the cold cut package is cut from. Got hit with no so good ½lb of ham . Was sticky slimy on day may 18. If any products have no dates , don't hesitate. Pass it up. I wouldn't take...
