Planet Fitness — Local services in Town of Bethlehem

My sister and I brought our dad here yesterday to try to encourage him to get into a fitness routine at low-no cost. I am a member at Pittsfield PF and this club is terrible by comparison. There is no onsite trainer. They don't participate in Silver Sneakers (Pittsfield advertises it right at the front desk) and the attitude of the guy working the desk was pathetic. There was no chart for the step stations in the 30 min express area. Not all of those stations had numbers or much guidance. In the main area, I felt like the machines weren't in much of an intuitive order and it was more like a scavenger hunt around the over compensation of treadmills. Poor floor plan all the way around. It felt cramped. Very unwelcoming feel and the best answer about the trainer was "try Latham". Not at all as advertised and it's a sad thing to think that Pittsfield, MA is a Taj Mahal compared to anything in the Albany area. Very clear that staffing is an issue...there was only 1 employee there so I had to give my dad the tour, not the employee. I typically see at least 3 employees in Pittsfield whenever I am there. This place is fine if you already know what you're doing but I felt like the guy was about as excited about a potential new client as if I had offered him a 3 day old peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Do not join this planet fitness. I have canceled my membership 4 times at the glenmont location in the last two yrs. I have called many times with no one to answer the phone. Now that we are in the pandemic and most of my family still not at work to full potential I just had another 40 dollars taken from my bank account now over drafting my bank account and now having more fees added to my already struggling time of our lives. If you don’t mind them taking money as they please from your bank account feel free to join. I would tell you not to. It has been two yrs I have not stepped into the building to use anything and only to tell them that they took money again and all they tell me is that I have to talk to manager. I leave name and number and never hear anything. I call with no answer. Please save your money and do not trust this plant fitness. Just joined and so far love the nice staff and cleanliness . Hopefully the water bed massager will be fixed soon because I love that ! One concern is that I primarily come for the 30 minute express workout which is a separate area that is basically s one minute per machine with a big traffic light to guide you. The problem is that every time I go there are people settling in and using the 30 minute machines for regular workouts much longer than a minute, making it impossible to do the circuit . There is a sign but I guess people don’t read it or don’t care . Those same machines can be found elsewhere in the gym so they don’t need to crowd out the folks wanting to do the 30 minute express.
