Lake George is my favorite lake. It is stunning & the views from this property are amazing. They are not one a kind though. If you like rustic, and don't mind that the cabin is full of dust and cobwebs, and spiders everywhere then it shouldn't be a problem. It felt more like camping with a bathroom & kitchen. They also advertise "canoes & kayaks" so we didn't go through the trouble of bringing up our kayaks. When we arrived there was only one 1 person kayak and one 2 person canoe. The canoe doesn't fare well during the busier times of the day because of the wake. They say you must wear a life vest, but the vests weren't stored properly so they had bugs, sticky cobwebs, and some other gunk stuck to them. Nothing you'd want to put on. There are these orb weaver spiders all over, which is kind of cool because you're like wow that's the biggest spider I've ever seen up close! But when you almost walk into one of their webs in the middle of the lake house, and they're right above your head, right outside your window with a big opening for them to crawl in, it is kind of unsettling. The webs were everywhere outside the cabin, and at night there was over 6 of them visible outside the picture window. Up in the ceiling there were visible webs with spider eggs. In the morning when we went to make the bed, one of the beds had two wood spiders, on one the pillow and the other on the mattress, just a few minutes after getting up. Wood spiders were also found near the door, and three in the bathroom. They were pretty big but nothing compared to the ones outside the windows. If you are scared of spiders, this is your warning. In the morning when I went to go outside I counted 15 daddy long legs on the screen door. The cabin was cute, and the views were great. Bolton Landing has a quaint town, which we weren't expecting. Restaurants & bars, very nice. It was more of a camping experience, and just wasn't what we were expecting. If you enjoy being one with the bugs, this won't be an...
Read moreI stayed at the Point over a long Memorial Day weekend, when I was in desperate need of a rustic, quiet retreat. It was quite lovely during the days and chilly at night.||||It is a very rustic experience, with gravel paths, up-close nature and original log cabins built in the late 1940's!! It is extremely charming but a lot like âglampingâ. ||||Our log cabin was a large studio with two double beds. The bathrooms looked recently renovated. It had a fireplace and firewood was provided. It was very clean, with nice bedding and extra blankets if we needed them. It overlooked the lake and had a great view. We had a patio with a picnic table and plastic Adirondack chairs. The property had a great boathouse with a deck upstairs. Located next door was an opera museum that was nice to walk through.||||We met the woman who took care of the property and she was friendly and told us the history of the property and that it had been owned by the same family since 1953. We corresponded via email as well and she was helpful giving us suggestions of local restaurants and areas to hike.||||The cabin had a full kitchen with a coffee pot. I imagine if you stayed a longer period of time you would want to bring some additional items or ask the owner what was available in each cabin. There is no TV and the Wi-Fi wasn't great (which was OK for me since I wanted to unplug). At night the property was dark so I would recommend bringing a headlamp, flash lamp or use the one on your phone. ||||Will stay here again 100% - recommend for anyone who is really looking for a rustic,...
Read moreThe Point is one of those rare places that truly qualifies as a hidden gem. Iâm a little reluctant to post this review and give away this family secret of ours but after coming here for over ten years itâs time that we finally give the Point the recognition it deserves for being the special place that it is. Each time that my family and I have stayed here we appreciate just how lucky we are in having found The Point. It gives us the feeling of staying at a rustic camp tucked away on a remote part of the lake while still being able to easily enjoy the benefits of being in Bolton Landing. The stunning views of the lake from each cabin, the smell of the pine trees, the warm reception from Sara and crew, and just the tranquility of being lakeside all make the Point a heavenly place for us.||While the Point is a special place for us it may not be for everybody. If you require the corporate pampering of the Sagamore or need a pool for the 17 screaming children in your group then the Point is probably not for you. That being said though, donât let the word ârusticâ hold you back. Between swimming, barbecuing, taking in all of the views and going to Bolton Landing for some shopping and good eats - you wonât miss the TV! (But who needs TVs now with the iPads?!) ||Basically if you would like to find an unpretentious place that brings out all of the Lake Georgeâs beauty without being 30 minutes away from the nearest grocery store, the Point...
