Read moreThis place has seriously gone downhill and it's depressing to see. Only a few years ago did I see this place as somewhere worth going. A luxury theater that teenagers spoke so lovely about.
I went in to see Moana 2 on the opening date and they did not have any more promotional items other than a nearly $15 popcorn tin that could probably suit a child. Either they ran out or they only had the popcorn tin somehow. The popcorn/drinks stand was run by two or three very slow and lazy teenagers. So, they seem understaffed again. Movie was at 8:50PM, went in at about 8:20PM, line for popcorn was about 10 people but we waited for twenty minutes or so. The teenager at the register looked like she didn't even want to be there. I work in retail; I get it's tiring to be in her position, but she should find another job where she doesn't look like she's about to pass out from exhaustion.
They barely had candy stocked too, just whatever people didn't want.
We got a soda and are they not doing the soda fountains anymore?? They had soda machines you could find at Popeyes which were the most disgusting machines I had ever seen. A McDonalds bathroom might as well be cleaner than that. Soda syrup sprayed everywhere, stains on the machine, the machine smelled funny. Every soda we tried tasted weird and was flat at one point a plastic PIECE of the machine fell into my drink. We even tried all of the machines, but the drinks kept coming out weird. That was a huge waste of our money, we ended up throwing the drink out.
There weren't even napkins in the napkin dispensers and straws were hidden in some box by the soda machines.
The lobby is absolutely disgusting, it's like they don't have anyone to at least vacuum the floor anymore. Popcorn, candy, and garbage everywhere you step. It reeks too, but to be fair it's not entirely the staff's fault, there are too many people that come to the theater that need to shower, they absolutely smell terrible.
The other popcorn stands were shut down, I assume they can't afford keeping those running either. Towards either end of each part of the theater there are shut down popcorn stands, it looks creepy, like a Backrooms level.
This theater should just be called Island 16, there is nothing Lux about it anymore. Are they trying to shut themselves down? It's so tiring, the other theater near me shut down because of the same reasons as this one. I will not be surprised if Island 16...
Read moreWhat a disappointment this theater has turned into. I haven't been here in years and I don't plan to return again. There was maybe 5 people working total and only one concession counter was open. We waited over 10 minutes only to be told on day 2 of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's opening weekend they had not once piece of merch for sale. Not even the chos or popcorn buckets, yet the signage that was plastered everywhere and on their screens told us we could find merch there. That was the first HUGE disappointment of the evening. Next, it cost over $30 for a medium soda and medium popcorn, yet the theater was absolutely atrocious. I can understand paying higher concession stand prices when a theater is both cleaned and fully staffed aka being operated correctly but this place is a joke! Nearly all the food options were closed before 10pm and yet they show movies last 11 so how does that make any sense. My group of 10 came ready to buy and we're sad to find out concession had literally nothing but plain popcorn. Then we get our cups and instead of the employees filling our drink we are told to go fill them ourselves at their new cocola drink machines but only 2 of them were turned on. The others were literally locked so they could not be used. It was Saturday night, again the second night of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's opening weekend and so I'm not quite understanding their logic here. Next to the drink machines the garbage was piled up and overflowing to the floor. Literally there was trash and food all over all the floors everywhere you went and all the cans were overflowing with garbage. I used to go to movieland in Coram and even that place was NEVER as atrocious as this. There was NO ONE checking tickets btw, great job, so we had no once to scan our tickets and just found our way to our theater only to find it disgusting. All the trash cans again were overflowing and the tables and recliners were all askew. The bathrooms were barely tolerable and had the same overflowing garbage problem. It was beyond clear they were severely understaffed and I am so disappointed that on a Saturday night that was the state of this theater that used to be packed and I used to really enjoy visiting. I hope they can correct their staffing issue and fall in line with standards again because it's a real shame to have seen it in such a state of disarray. I absolutely recommend you go literally anywhere else to spend your...
