WORST THEATER EVER
I've been to Movieland three times now- I usually go to Loew's or PJ Cinemas. Movieland has been terrible enough to warrant my first ever review written online. The first time, we went to see Moonrise Kingdom and there was a large group of loud teenagers that we asked to be quiet. No luck and no help from staff, but okay maybe not their fault either. We went approximately 1.5 months ago to see The Conjuring. Movieland had set up a Children's Party literally right next door to the theater- I said something to a staff member and there was absolutely no change. The children were screaming during the entire movie, ruining any suspense it may have had. At the end, they gave us four free passes (without me asking for them) when I said that the noise never abated. We went back tonight to see the World's End figuring we couldn't possibly have such terrible luck a third time. A crackhead family came in about 20 minutes into the movie- with three terribly behaved children (completely inappropriate movie for them)- and upon entering the lovely woman in the family loudly exclaimed "What the f* where are they". They proceeded to filter into the front row and talk literally nonstop. Asked them politely to be quiet once, twice, three times. The guy with the family left and came back loudly multiple time and was clearly wasted. When we left the theater he was walking around the lobby with an open can of beer. This place is an absolute joke and not worth your time unless you're a low life who enjoys talking through movies. When I complained to the staff and pointed to the guy clearly waltzing through their lobby wasted with a beer in hand, the guy came up to me and started threatening me. They offered us more free passes but I would never go back to this theater, we ripped up the two we still had. And I'm a poor graduate student so saying no to something free is not common. ...
Read moreThis place has seriously declined! Weve been going for YEARS, now never again & I'm sad. You can't get people in the door as it is but sure keep prices at AMC prices. And sorry but 4.50 for the SAME candy as dollar tree is RIDICULOUS. Go buy from them and then upsell to 2.75..maybe it will sell? I get everything is expensive, but no one is going to buy 8 m&ms for 5 bucks 🤷♀️AND the soda.... well just don't drink it or get a water bottle..... if they have bottled water otherwise don't drink anything that comes out if their soda machines. YUCK! The staff is less than subpar, no one seems to be trained or knows anything, stuff is always "out" or they will upsell you by telling you they are out of small popcorn buckets. Also the theaters... well a few aren't working. But they "warn" you before you go in, not before you by your ticket 🤔. Telling you ... "there's no HEAT in this theater" or it's really cold in that one. So sad because this was a go to place for many. It's a small locally owned theater, there could be so much done to bring people & families back in. It could literally be a gold mine, sad the owners don't seem to care at all. Another small business on its way out in our community. Sad indeed.
EDITED FOR CLARITY THIS IS MY PERSONAL STATEMENT BASED ON RECENT EVENTS AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PANDEMIC. It is quite sad to go actually, this was my go to place for the last 20 + years. Recommended it for years as well, as I just recently did. It was that experience that led me to this review. I was embarrassed by giving this recommendation after all I was told from a recent experience. Again I was recommending this theater for years based on affordability& service. I can no longer do that. That's what...
Read moreI was comparing seeing Spiderman with my brother at AMC vs Movieland. The ticket was over $17 at AMC!!! But at Movieland it was only $10. On top of that, the usher talked me into their loyalty Star Card and now I'm getting $6 movie tickets for an entire year! With tickets this cheap I can actually see all the movies I want instead of being so picky. I loved when I entered that they're playing music from classic movies and that really topped it off for me. This place is just a cool, comfortable, super cheap place to go with my friends. The young staff were so friendly- like actually looked me in the eye and made me feel like a person and not just a number. I'm going to use my Star Card...
