So I was looking for a certain cut of pork and I called this amazing wonderful place. I spoke to one of the owners that are a husband and wife team and the wife told me at the moment they didn't have it but I should call back once in awhile. She was very kind and very helpful but alas they did not have the cut. Now skip to 3 weeks later after driving up and down the street I finally found this little part of Italy in our little town. I went inside and I was automatically reminded of a pork store in the Bronx. The owner the husband this time came out and I asked him for the cut of meat and he said he had it so I bought it. I asked to say hello to his wife so she came out she remembered after a while our conversation while her husband was cutting me pieces of dry sausage I should try and let me tell you they were absolutely delicious. After that I saw they had cheese and he had fresh borata and I couldn't believe it I bought it there were two inside the package and they were also delicious after I got them home. Before I left the place the husband asked me if I like pate I told him I've never had it before so he cut me a small piece of liver pate. Now there is something I hate it's liver but I'll always try something once I took a small bite of it and it was so good I ate the rest lol. After I was done shopping the owner offered me a small cannoli that he made himself and I left another delicious treat. All in all cannot express how wonderful this small but amazing little spot in Hurleyville is! If you're Italian if you're from the city and you miss the park stores there the fresh sausages and things like that you have to stop by this place even if you're not Italian the place is absolutely amazing and so are the...
Read moreHave not tried all their products yet. I did have a spreadable salami that was very good. Looking forward to the peppered pancetta that I purchased tomorrow and hopefully going to give a great review on that as it looks fabulous. Don't walk in at 5 minutes to closing as you'll be reminded they're closing in 5 minutes. The only reason why I'm making my review at this point at four stars is the comment that was made when I first walked in telling me they were closing in 5 minutes at a storefront. It wasn't like I was going to sit down and order a sandwich to eat and stay there for another 30 minutes. The shop looks pretty cool though and I was looking forward to go there for some time. I will go back as the lady running the cash register did apologize for the gentleman who had to remind me of my poor timekeeping and coming in very close to their...
Read moreLa Salumina makes an incredible sandwich. Freshly made when ordered, the warm foccacia complements the fatty meats so well. On this particular Saturday morning, the sandwiches were porchetta ham with straciacella cheese and tomato, and a vegetarian beet and cheese. The foccicia is about a 6x6 square and the sandwich is served toasty warm and cheese is melty. This is a small shop run by a husband and wife team, so please be patient and kind and shop local.
The cured meat and salami selection is impressive. I wish I had more time to try more options other than the porchetta.
La Salumina also carries pantry goods imported from Italy, such as Sicialian lemon preserves, anchovies, olive oil,...
