My family (of 3) were excited! We had never been to Hurleyville before and we had tickets to see a performance at the Performing Arts Centre. We had 45 minutes until showtime, so we thought we had plenty enough time to get a drink and perhaps a bite at Tango - the restaurant that was located right next door that was pretty quiet when we arrived. We waited 10 minutes at the table before it was cleaned and our order was taken. While we patiently waited we saw food and drinks going to a party of 4 that was seated well after us. We waited and waited but after a while we started getting nervous because the food hadn't come and we were worried about missing our performance. My wife went inside to see what was taking so long. After waiting 30 minutes for our food to arrive, it finally did but we only had only 5 minutes to eat it. After a few bites (all we had time for)we realized it wasn't worth the wait. My "Golden" sesame noodles were dripping in oil and my son's "California" veggie burger was nothing more than a pre-packaged "Dr. Praeger's" burger (the worse of the worse when it comes to veggie burgers) and his fries were stale. All the manager could say was that our order took a long time because we didn't tell our waitress that we had a performance to attend to. Say what? What difference does that make? Does that mean you can slack off and/or give preferential treatment to others? We asked for to-go containers and our check. We also asked for at least partial compensation (drinks?) but the manager refused . All we were left with was the fun of taking smelly take-out containers with us into a small, crowded auditorium. It maytake 2 (or 4) to Tango BUT NEVER this 3 again!
by the way, the only way I could eat the leftover noodles is by frying them (to burn off some of the oil) and adding vegetables (other than the included mushy zucchini) and tofu. I am afraid they will never be great but at least I won't be...
Read moreWe went to Tango Cafe in a group of six in late May, early June. We all looked at the menu first and decided, based on the choices, to go there. When we arrived, we were handed menus that had none of the same selections on it. We were told that they were under new management and had completely redone everything. The waitress actually looked annoyed when we noted that redoing the online menu would have been a wise thing to include in the revamp.
We asked about vegan options--a thing the online menu had--and were told they could make some things vegan, like the humus plate. The woman who ordered that was brought non-vegan cheese as part of the plate. Rather than replacing it with something of substance, they brought her carrot sticks.
That's not even the "best" part. We all ordered different meals and two of the party were violently ill that night and the next day from the food. (I had one french fry and thought it tasted nasty, and they both ate the fries...) One person sent an email to the Cafe, rather than posting her comments as a review, and was asked to "give [them] a second chance," without offering anything to entice someone who'd had food poisoning there an incentive. We all agree that we won't be going back...
Read moreWe were the first to arrive at the restaurant and yet it took over 40 minutes for the zombie waitstaff to bring us the food and drink menus (we asked for them no less than three times). We were completely ignored for the first 15 minutes, even though there was hardly any other patrons. The dish I wanted to order was sold out. On two occasions we were brought beverages or dishes we didn't order (meanwhile one of the dishes we actually ordered took so long that we almost canceled it). The table next to us returned their dish because they found a hair in it. The $15 strawberry mojitos were mediocre. The fried chicken sandwich was basic but OK. The sherbet was a tiny serving scooped by someone who seemed to have never scooped ice cream in their life. To complete the picture, the restaurant has the charm of a big-box store and insists on having bad live music played by a band that should have stayed...
