When we decided to have our wedding out of town, two hours away from Rochester, I figured it would be out of the question to have my favorite flower shop do the flowers. When I emailed Wendy to ask if I could use her as a resource, to ask questions & such, she said they would not miss the opportunity to do our wedding. I was so shocked, happy and relieved! I immediately knew I had nothing to worry about when it came to the flowers! Even if they had never worked with or been to the venues we had chosen.
We chose the historic Chautauqua Institution’s Hall of Philosophy for our ceremony. Because of it’s grandeur, I wanted to keep the decor minimal. My bridesmaids carried lanterns instead of flowers, which saved a good chunk of money that could be used for the reception. In addition to my bouquet, we decided on large ferns in urns and small welcome table arrangements that could be transported and used again at the reception.
Working with Rockcastle was everything I needed it to be. Our meetings were never rushed. They listened to my vision and gave expert advice. While I would have had no problem blowing our budget on flowers, they understood our need to stay exactly on budget, making adjustments where needed. I felt fully confident that they understood my vision and would execute it perfectly and they did!
Our style themes were inspired by the venues we choose- old world elegance and relaxed southern charm, with our color palate being ivory, gold and black. We kept the flowers in white, cream, and blush. Greens tied everything together with the ferns and succulents.
Luckily, I got around for the day at the Bed & Breakfast where the reception would later be, so I had the chance to see our reception tent & tables all done up. It was such a surreal moment, seeing all the details come together after months of planning. It was even better than I envisioned! This was also when I saw my bouquet for the first time- which was perfection! Not too tight, and not too cascading, it was proportioned just right.
As a business owner myself, I knew I wanted to work with vendors who were passionate about what they do. This was the most important element for me, knowing they take pride in what they put out into the world. This is a big reason I did not need to over manage, and how I was able to let go and fully trust in their role for the day. Keith, Wendy and the entire Rockcastle team exceeded my expectations and I am forever grateful for their hard work in making our special day...
Read moreI have mixed feeling about this place and to be transparent, this review is based off of one experience, one order. I placed an order online and I love the user friendliness of the website. Made my choice of arrangements, chose the occasion, and paid an extra $20 for an expedited delivery. So I’d say 2-3 hours later I get a call from a guy says he has a delivery for me…? Ummm I’m in Houston and the delivery is for (and I provided him the name). So yeah, he corrected himself and we discussed some delivery instructions. Another hour or so passed and I still didn’t receive any notification that the flowers were delivered. That’s when I received a called from the recipient thanking me and telling me how beautiful they were. BUT, she then started poking fun at me saying I must have received some sort of discount considering there was a big sign in the flowers, Congrats Class of 2024.
We laughed about it but that really bothered me. This is a grown woman. The flowers were delivered to her law firm where she was just promoted to not only partner but managing partner! I have no idea where how they made the determination, without calling, that this is as a graduation arrangement on June 21st? Now I did mention how user friendly the website is but of the choices for occasion, the one I chose was listed as “Congratulations/Graduation”. That was the only option that mentioned congrats. And since there was a slash in between, I’m thinking ok it’s either/or. But the fact that they kind of made the decision for me, really bothered me considering I didn’t necessarily order the cheapest arrangement.
To sum it up, delivery guy thought the flowers were for me but he made it right and took additional steps to make the delivery, the flowers were beautiful, she received and love them but a little later than I would have expected and paid for, and they had...
