Terrible! I was so disappointed with this place. My girlfriends and I made reservations here for this past Saturday night for my friend's bachelorette party. The manager told us that he would rope off a section of the bar for us. We even confirmed a day prior. Upon arriving, the servers had no idea we were coming. Luckily there was an available section for us to sit in. I don't know what we would have done if there wasn't. That wasn't the worst part though. We ordered drinks around 7:35 and didn't receive them until 8:15 (the time we were supposed to leave to make our next reservation somewhere else). I asked the servers numerous times where our drinks were and that this was a bit ridiculous. I work in the bar/restaurant industry and I would never allow my customers to wait that long. When we finally received our cocktails, the waitress brought over our check with 18% gratuity already added on. I was appalled. Not to mention, someone in our party overheard the one server complaining about us to the other staff when we were very polite and patient. I will never come back here. This was the worst way to start off a night, not to mention a bachelorette party considering the fact that almost all of the girls were from out of town and we promised this place...
Read moreI’ve been to Flight West plenty of times. The ambiance is solid, no complaints there. But this last visit? Easily the worst yet.
I ordered the so-called “Wagyu” filet, and let me tell you, there was nothing premium about it. It was cooked almost medium-well instead of the requested medium-rare, dry as cardboard, and had that old meat taste you’d expect from a sketchy grocery store, not a $70+ steak. Either they’re using the term “Wagyu” very loosely, or someone in the kitchen is asleep at the grill. Had I not been so hungry, I definitely would’ve left way more on the plate.
Service? Meh. Our waitress never asked how the steak was, never checked in, and clearly couldn’t care less. If you’re going to charge over $200 for a meal, the bare minimum is attentive service. Ask how the food is. Pretend to care. Train your staff like you’re running an actual restaurant, not a dive with mood lighting.
The lone highlight was the grilled octopus, expertly charred with a tender bite, layered over sweet corn and blistered peppers, finished with a well-balanced, smoky sauce. A thoughtful dish, but hardly enough to offset the disappointment that followed.
Flight West might look the part, but experiences like this prove it’s style over...
Read moreThis place gets 5 stars for ambience and design! Painted in rich, classic earth tone, the centerpiece is Flight West's 15 foot tall wall of spirits (bourbon particulalry) and many wines.
Staff can use an old-library style ladder to get selections from any part of this enormous wall of fine libations...
Accenting on the aviation-like name, Flight West features a variety of both food, wine and mixed whisky, bourbon and single malt scotch flights. Flight of food wine and spirits! Nice thinking...who doesn't like flights!?
The kitchen showed it's intention for upscale dishes while still offering gastro-pub favorites. My friends ordered bruschetta and Korean barbecue respectively. I ordered the Beef short ribs.
Bruschetta had a slight chewiness to the bread which was a little difficult to bite and the wings were cooked nicely, but lacked the heat described by the menu.
The short ribs were above par and it was a very nice portion for the price. We enjoyed a flight of wine and local borbouns. I just thought that wine flights are at their best when it's offered with 5 different wines instead of 3.
Still, very cool place. A little dark here but makes for a great place to take a date and have that mood...
