This is going to be long, but these vets saved our cat when our previous office basically told us there was nothing they could do. I will never take our cats anywhere else. This experience has taught me that a vet that has been fine for dogs isn't always the best for your cat. Our big boy became very sick, very fast. He wasn't eating, straining to poop which only resulted in blood tinged mucous, and was no longer jumping up off the floor. We took him to the emergency vet where they said they have no idea what was wrong, but they could push fluids and hope he makes it through the weekend so we could call and schedule a special ultrasound or they could do a big exploratory surgery. We chose to get fluids, then take him to our regular vet for a 2nd opinion. Our regular vet then ran all the same tests emergency just ran, kept him all day to give fluids, and had us continue bringing him back for fluids the next 2 days. There was little to no communication, but they kept assuring us that they were "trying to figure it out". By the 3rd day, they told us "there is nothing more they can do" and they have no idea what's wrong. They advised we take him somewhere else. That's after they charged us over $1k for fluids, labs, and "boarding fees". It felt like they were hoping it was a simple stomach bug that would just pass, but he was now on at least day 4 of not eating. We also discovered they took all his nails down all the way (which I didn't even know you could do without harming them), and one of his paws was extremely sensitive from this. Our experience with Just Cats was completely opposite - when I called them, they didn't have any openings but asked me to explain what was going on. She immediately put me on hold to see what they could do. The vet offered to stay later if we could get him there right away. Ultimately, they were able to give him a specialized ultrasound that showed he either had a blockage or a mass. None of his labs pointed toward cancer so we were hopeful of a blockage. They immediately started him on meds including appetite stimulants to try and get him eating to hopefully dislodge the blockage with the understanding if he got any worse they would have to operate. They kept him overnight so they could keep him calm, relaxed, and medicated. By the next morning, he had clearly turned a corner and was eating. We were able to take him home and continue the meds. We were told to watch the litter box and that night he passed a small chunk of what appeared to be cardboard. He has been happy and healthy since. They were so incredibly compassionate, and explained everything. This took me a long time to post because it was extremely upsetting that it felt like our previous vet just washed their hands of him after taking our money but not actually trying anything, not even appetite stimulants when it can be very dangerous for cats to go days without eating and he was already at day 4 of zero food. At the point we found Just Cats, I was desperate to save him and basically told them I would do whatever is necessary - I literally would have maxed out my credit card if that's what it took. They could have easily ran the bill up, but they were very up front that there was no reason to recheck most of his labs, just a couple that would show if we had time to try some things or if he was out of time and needed surgery immediately. The surgical option certainly would have been more expensive and they knew I was willing to pay it with no hesitation. They even called to follow up and make sure he was still doing well. I have never been to an office like this before. Every single person there was so kind and the 2 Dr's that saw him were absolutely invested in getting to the bottom of what was wrong and helping him. He was absolutely treated like he was one of their own pets. I am so thankful I found this office. ❤️

An excellent experience at Just Cats for a new patient appointment. Both the clinic's setup and the staff's actions demonstrate a clear committment to the comfort of their feline patients (and their owners). Much of my experience aligns with the other positive reviews, and here's a few highlights: - Super easy to set up an appointment via online request form. They reached out to me the next morning with a date 6 weeks out (perfectly understandable given the demand on veterinarians), I paid the $50 deposit via phone, and we were all set. They also sent a pre-appointment questionnaire which allowed me to note any specific questions/concerns I wanted to address during the visit. - Brought my cat in her carrier (yowling, because she's not a fan of car rides and carriers), and the desk staff offered for me to bring her right to the exam room since it was ready so she could be let out and get comfortable. Besides the quietness of being a cat-only clinic, it was lovely to be able to use her harness and leash when we left at the end as she's far more comfortable with that, especially after being a bit shaken from having her first blood draw. - Exam room had a securely screened open window overlooking a small yard with bird feeders, which gave her sights, sounds, and smells to focus on when she was nervous in the new space. Small detail that really enhanced her experience! - All of the staff was kind and attentive! Dr. Tommell answered my multiple questions about my cat, her diet, and her care in stride during the exam, explaining everything clearly and concisely. It can be easy to feel self-conscious asking for feedback on how you're caring for your cat (i.e. type of food fed, using preventatives), but Dr. Tommell is accomodating and open in sharing her knowledge. The techs were exceptionally skilled in handling my cat for her blood draw and managing her wriggliness and discomfort to get the draw done safely. - I also had the chance at the end of the appointment to review the care suggestions we'd discussed with the vet assistant to get a breakdown on cost per item and decide what I wanted in a low-pressure environment. Very transparent about the costs, and I appreciated being able to add or remove things based on the care I felt was right for my cat today. - The whole experience was about 45 minutes. There was about 10 minutes of waiting in the exam room at the beginning, which I found incredibly helpful to give my cat time to adjust to the space and be able to soothe her before introducing new people. There was another short wait between our assistant getting vitals and the veterinary exam, which was helpful decompression time for my cat as well. Overall, the experience was really no more difficult for my cat than any other short road trip (and maybe even better since she got some pets from her new staff friends)! Whether your cat is a social butterfly or more stressed with changes in environment, I really can't recommend Just Cats enough! And thank you to all the staff for all you do!

BEST experience I've ever had with healthcare, including human doctors. A+++++++!! I will never take a cat anywhere else!!!! I called when they opened with a stray cat, and I wasn't established with them yet. The receptionist was very friendly and already had seen the email I'd sent over the weekend. Because the cat was sick, they got me in THAT SAME MORNING -- and when I got there, THREE people walked into the room: a doctor, an assistant, and another doctor who I think was shadowing because she wanted experience with ear mites. In the photo, you can see them doing a blood draw: one person is holding the cat, one person is holding the razor, and one person is feeding the cat a treat to keep her distracted. Even though I was a last minute appointment, they managed to gather a whole team! I look at this photo, and see my cat surrounded with care. Nobody was fumbling from a lack of hands. I felt like all three people were genuinely concerned about doing what was best for my cat, including drawing the line on not doing too much to her on her first vet experience so she doesn't develop vet trauma. For example, they thought from the way she was acting that shaving to check for spay scars would be too much for her on top of the blood draw and vaccines, but then when she was cool with having her leg shaved for the blood draw, they felt they could get away with shaving her tummy and it went fine. My point is, they really read the cat and thought carefully on how to balance care with a non-traumatizing experience. They also seemed to recommend only what the cat needed and nothing more. I didn't feel like they tried to upsell me or create unnecessary appointments. I planned to return for a spay, and they suggested deferring the microchip (which I asked for) and feline leukemia vaccine until then-- to put less stress on the cat on the first visit and to avoid unnecessary cost before blood tests came back. I also felt like nobody rushed, and in fact was surprised that they seemed to have all the time in the world for the cat and all my questions. This took longer than a human doctor visit. The doctor in charge was there for more than 15 minutes, and when she left to hand me off to the assistants, she told me so and invited me to ask her any remaining questions before she left. I wound up thinking of questions after she left, and each time, the assistant went and asked her. After the visit, I received an email that the doctor wrote personally, explaining the test results and asking how my cat was doing. Everyone, from the receptionist to the doctor, were patient, kind, reassuring, and professional. I will not trust my cat with anyone else. My little fur person deserves only the best, and I'm so grateful that I found it.

If you are an overly worrying cat mom like myself, please consider this to be a great place to bring your cat-child!

Visits include lab/blood work, new patient exam/physical, dental procedure with 4 teeth extractions & flee/skin issue.

I contacted Just Cats in Guilderland about 2 months ago, at the time they were not accepting new patients in the Guilderland office but were accepting new patients in the Saratoga office. I quickly made an appointment as I really wanted somewhere that specializes in cats. I currently live about... 1 minute away from the Guilderland office but felt comfortable doing the process of taking her to the Saratoga office to be an established "patient" to then where I could take my cat to the Guilderland office.

My cat's appointment in Saratoga was great! The front desk / receptionist staff member was incredibly sweet, kind, welcoming. The vet & assistant(s) / lab tech I had during her appointment were all Amazing. Just really a bunch of sweethearts who answered, fully, all my questions. I got told my kitty very seriously needed some dental work done, but needed blood work / labs done prior to make Absolute sure she could handle a dental surgery (my kitty is an old gal.) The assistant and the lab tech that took my cats blood work were so gentle and kind to my kitty, which really helped a worried cat-mom like me.

After this, it was about a week when I heard back that my kitty's lab work was Great, and she could handle surgery! I then went forward and made a dental surgery with the Guilderland office, and let me say, I love these people! Any time I've called, every single one of them has been so nice, friendly and so willing to accommodate my schedule.

My kitty had her dental surgery on 10/11 and I am so pleased with how well they not only took care of her but also communicated everything with me. They made sure I was okay with picking her up after a few hours so she could rest / they could watch her. Making sure to let me know of anything else they found in her exam, surgery, or etc. They warned me about anything that could happen. They were also very very accommodating to her 2 week follow up appointment.

Overall, I am just so happy I brought my kitty here. The staff are all just really nice, super kind. The dental assistant who gave who took my kitty in and also gave us discharge was seriously the sweetest. Just very genuinely such welcoming energy and kindness and gave us so much great information but also just very gentle that this was a hard procedure. I also spoke with Dr.Kennedy on the phone and she was SO nice, funny, friendly, kind and was sure to let me know any and all information.

I had a great experience here with my kitty's initial physical exam, lab work / blood work, and a dental procedure that included 4 extractions. As long as I'm in the area, this will be my cats vet clinic! 🐈

The Guilderland Office also has a fantastic waiting area. Very comfortable and has a "living room" type feel. Clean, comfortable, relaxing. Both offices were very quiet, calm. I really just overall felt very comfortable with this clinic! Thank you to the entire...

They also sent a pre-appointment questionnaire which allowed me to note any specific questions/concerns I wanted to address during the visit.

Brought my cat in her carrier (yowling, because she's not a fan of car rides and carriers), and the desk staff offered for me to bring her right to the exam room since it was ready so she could be let out and get comfortable. Besides the quietness of being a cat-only clinic, it was lovely to be able to use her harness and leash when we left at the end as she's far more comfortable with that, especially after being a bit shaken from having her first blood draw.

Exam room had a securely screened open window overlooking a small yard with bird feeders, which gave her sights, sounds, and smells to focus on when she was nervous in the new space. Small detail that really enhanced her experience!

All of the staff was kind and attentive!

I also had the chance at the end of the appointment to review the care suggestions we'd discussed with the vet assistant to get a breakdown on cost per item and decide what I wanted in a low-pressure environment. Very transparent about the costs, and I appreciated being able to add or remove things based on the care I felt was right for my cat today.

The whole experience was about 45 minutes.

And thank you to all the staff...
