Very disappointing. I wish I could say otherwise. My husband and I have dined at The Colony before for our 18th wedding anniversary. The server who took care of us that day was absolutely wonderful. I have a digestive disease with a long, long list of foods that I have to avoid, otherwise I could end up in the hospital. She was kind, patient, and very accommodating. With that being said, when it came time to book reservations for Valentine’s Day this year, my husband and I immediately thought to make reservations with them again. We arrived 15 minutes early and it seemed to be very busy. That’s ok, it was Valentine’s Day weekend after all! We were seated right away and our server came to give us menus. She returned a few minutes later and took our drink orders. She brought them back within a timely manner. When it came time to order our appetizer and meals, I apologized as I always do before asking numerous questions about my food. I needed to know what would be in the vegetable medley and instead of asking the chef our server insisted that I give her a list of everything I can’t eat. I assured her that it would be much easier if she just found out what was in the medley, because my list goes on and on. Also, I didn’t feel it necessary to give her every detail of my life just to decide whether or not I want the vegetables they were serving. After quite a long, embarrassing, and upsetting time of back and fourth with her, she yelled at me and said “fine! I’ll ask the chef” and stomped off. When she left I looked at my husband, tears welling up in my eyes, and said I’d like to leave. The way this server treated me was extremely inappropriate and uncalled for. It’s not my fault that I have a digestive disease after all, but she acted like it was quite the burden for her. We walked to the front of the restaurant and told the hostess what had happened. She apologized and got another woman to assist her (I’m assuming the manager). My husband was so angry about the way things were handled that he frustratedly handed her our debit card and asked to pay for the drinks that neither of us even had the chance to drink. She took our card and to be honest it kinda blew my mind… the least they could do was not charge us $20 for something that we didn’t have the ability to drink. In the long run they didn’t charge us for the drinks, but the fact that she was willing to sealed the deal for us. We will never go back to the Colony and I would highly suggest that no one with a food allergy/restriction eat at this...
Read moreThe overall experience was good. The steak was a little over cooked and is only seasoned with salt and pepper. If that's your thing then your good. I prefer a little seasoning of some sort. The service was ok and polite but very slow. 45 min before we received our meals. The dinner salad is ok ,mostly iceberg so it's refreshing but the house balsamic could have been store bought(meaning it was ok but theres nothing really all that great about it either) and it's not of the traditional darker color but clear like Italian. The twice backed potato was ok though I would have preferred a choice, and the vegetable medley was ok but again I would have preferred a choice or at least asparagus for a one size fits all option. Last and least the lobster tails had some sort of seasoning on them that the flavored on them reminded me of sugar cookies. Honestly, I didn't like it and scraped it off. With that said the clarified butter had little flavor to over power what sweetness was left on the lobster meat. Rereading this it doesn't sound that good but all and all it was ok and while I don't remember what I paid I know it was reasonable. A decent dress casual atmosphere with a plenty of options on the menu. This was my second time eating here driving from 45 min away to meet guests. I...
Read moreFirst time visiting after passing by numerous times over the years…. Was very disappointed in the food. We both ordered the Surf & Turf. Started with a dinner salad that seemed to be late night end of the bag. Not crisp… and just lettuce and a slice of tomato and I think I tasted a sunflower seed …??? The steak was ok, could have been seasoned or seasoned more. Was so looking forward to some lobster….it was the worst we have ever had. Going to Red Lobster would have been better. There was some sort of breading on the lobster that took away the savory taste of a good lobster. The melted butter… can’t say for sure it was butter. There wasn’t any remnants of butter in the bottom. Was very clear. There was not a sweet buttery taste to it at all. The twice baked potato didn’t come with any extras or wasn’t asked either. Had to ask for some butter and sour cream. My sour cream tasted spoiled. Just an over all bad experience with the food. Positives- the fresh baked bread was good and the staff...
