I haven't been to DC&Ts in almost 30 years. I recently unpacked some old RCs and thought I would get back into it. Much has changed over the years. Mostly from an electronics standpoint. After much research on the internet I saw a video reminding me to 'support your local hobby shop'. I did exactly that. From the moment I walked into Dan's I could see that much has changed, and yet what I remember about Dan's had not. Customer service with a smile. I was greeted by the first team member I encountered. Nice. Still the same Dan's. I found myself in front of the RC hobby counter and watched as customers were helped. This was what I always came for. A knowledgeable young man (Dan C.) asked if I needed help with anything. I had many, many questions. He was patient and helpful. His experience alone with the various products sold/displayed was so valuable. We talked about about so many things as he got me me up to date. He offered to run a vehicle for me (not policy) so I could see more of what we discussed in terms of performance options.
In the end I placed an order for a vehicle we agreed had good options and value. The entire exchange was unpressured and felt 'small town'. While (Dan C.) was looking into something for me the manager/owner offered an opinion on tools. I accepted his recommendation.
I will not bother with the internet anymore after this great experience. BTW, I was there almost 40 minutes. Dan's is amazing. Those people live RC and love it. That's where I will make my...
Read moreMany years old, not sure just how many but the place has been here since I was a kid and I'm sure much longer. I'm 42 years old. If you're looking for things to do in your spare time like sewing, knitting, other crafts, RC cars, RC boats, RC planes things like that this is the place to go! They also have H/O and N//O Modell trains, and even pinewood derby cars for the boy scouts! Lego, Slot car, models for assembly... Lots of other things in there as well, too much to name and ever view like this but the best thing I can tell you to do is go check it out. Even if you don't have a hobby stop in and just browse, you'll find something that you want to get into. The only negative I have to say about the place is price. They are a small one shop stop so they can't compete with places like Walmart and Amazon. But you're not going to find more knowledgeable staff to help you in your journey. You certainly won't find people at Walmart that know anything about this stuff. And you're not going to find this stuff at...
Read moreThe store overall is pretty impressive, with a little bit of every kind of craft you can think of.
The reason I am leaving a middling review is due to my experience at checkout a few weeks ago. It was my first time in and I, a female, was asked if I wanted to join their rewards program. There were a couple of men standing behind me (who were doing absolutely nothing wrong). When I said that I would join their rewards program, I was asked to say my full name, phone number, mailing address, and email address out loud - and even to spell them out. I was incredibly uncomfortable. The two men standing behind me now know my full name, exactly where I live, and my phone number. As a woman especially, this is really, really troubling. This is enough information to stalk and harm someone. I was incredibly uncomfortable but felt pressured to continue in order to not seem like I'm paranoid or awkward. This should be changed to some kind of sign-up sheet, or an email address only should...
