Thera Farms — Local services in Town of Islip

We had a lovely time visiting this charming little farm with a group of friends. The berry picking was fun, and the simple play features around the area gave the kids a chance to explore and enjoy themselves before and after picking. It’s a great spot for young families.

However, I did have some concerns about safety during our visit. The toddler-sized trampoline was visibly broken, with one of the legs rusted and detached, making it unstable and unsafe. It really should be removed or repaired.

Additionally, one of the benches near the washing station was extremely off level. While our 3- 4 year olds were sitting on it for a quick photo, it tipped forward and fell onto one of the children, trapping them underneath. Two staff members were nearby and witnessed the incident but didn’t check in on us or take any action to secure the bench afterward. That lack of response was disappointing and left a poor impression.

This farm has a lot of potential and offers a lovely experience overall, but I hope they take these safety concerns seriously to ensure a safer and more welcoming environment for all families. We started out loving the concept of Thera Farms and thought it would be a wonderful experience but it wasn't. It does not pay to get a farm share for 500$ when the people that walk in off the street pay less. He charges less per an item than you end up paying in your 25$ a week share. It's very disorganized, when the Farmer and his wife are not there, they leave help that has no idea what's included in the share, nothing has labels and if you ask if this is included they (including his own nephew) say they are not sure. Every item that is not included in the share should say so and when you ask, his employees should know. He should also not be recording customers without a sign being displayed that he is recording you. He should definitely not post a video of you without your permission on social media to prove an invalid point. I feel very violated by this. I noticed the change in the farm with the pricing when he started to accept government checks from WIC. Its actually in your favor to not join the CSA and just buy weekly. We will not be returning to Thera Farms next year and don't appreciate the un-professionalism endured by...

Cute organic farm - they have a huge lot of land but the farm stand itself is on the smaller side. However, they have a very nice variety of fruits & vegis. They offer wood fire pizzas & fresh lemonade with an adorable sitting area decorated with an abundance of flowers. We purchased hot lantern peppers (which did not disappoint) & carrots. You will not find “market” items here like jams, soaps, eggs, etc. Will be going back for more hot peppers & figs when available. Looking forward to going in the fall to see what they have too.
