Avoid This Place
If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it would be "awful." I’ve never done pottery or ceramics before, and I thought it would be a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. The lady at the front desk was a breath of fresh air. She was kind, helpful, and friendly to both me and my husband, who later came to pick up my items. Honestly, if she ever owns it, I might return—she’s a saint compared to the owner.
As for the owner, she made my entire experience unbearable. She hovered over me the entire time, pointing out every little thing I did wrong and criticizing my work. I had to pay extra for every single step of the process, and by the end, I’d spent $50 on services I could’ve easily bought pre-made on Etsy. I came for an experience, not to be nickel-and-dimed for each aspect which i had called prior about for price point before solidifying my decision to come.
But the worst part wasn’t even my experience—it was how she treated other customers. I watched her tear into a young man and his girlfriend, berating them for no reason, and she did the same to another customer who walked in. They both ended up asking for refunds, and it’s easy to see why. The entire place was filled with negative energy, and I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome the entire time.
If you enjoy being treated like you’re an inconvenience, getting charged for every little thing, and being harassed by an elderly woman in a wheelchair, then this is the spot for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and skip this place. Without the kind woman at the front, this place would be nothing but a sad, overpriced experience led by a rude,...
Read moreBeen here a few times now. Soooo many choices! Have only chosen greenware & bisqueware, but now my sister wants to try glazing at our next visit. Looking forward to it. The owner lady is a bit gruff at first, but she is kind and has an encyclopedia of ceramics' knowledge in her head!!! You can happily spend HOURS here, if you choose to clean greenware & have it bisque fired. Plan on a whole day (definitely NOT a waste of time - aside from it being fun & relaxing, you meet some fun people as well). I spend at least 1 hr just deciding what pieces I want, then 2+ hrs cleaning them (removing seams from the molds, adding details, etc.) Great way to spend a Saturday, especially if you bring a friend, coffee &...
Read moreWest's Ceramics go well beyond being an amazing ceramic's supply store! - The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Despite how busy they are, they always make time to answer any questions that I have (and being a newbie, I've had plenty) - The variety of supplies have me returning over and over again to buy more! Thankfully, I live relatively close; however, even if I didn't, I would gladly make the trip to visit West's Ceramics - It's...
