This place is a classic example of receiving an intended upgrade, but in reality, it's a MASSIVE DOWNGRADE. The old building was fantastic. Plenty of food options, very quick and efficient service, and plenty of places to sit and eat. You could go to Roy Rogers, which is 1000x better than Shake Shack, and be sitting down eating your meal within 5 minutes. If you needed to use the restroom, it was clean for the most part, and the soap dispenser worked, because it was mechanical. This new piece of junk place...this downgrade.....first of all, there is hardly any tables to sit down and eat your food...they waste room in this new place by putting couches all over the middle of the floor. This is stupid. I am here to eat something, and get back on the road. Also, I went to use the bathroom, and half the soap dispensers didn't work...and they had soap. I looked underneath and saw a full tub. Had they just used a simple push button dispenser, it would not be a problem. And Shake Shack....pfft more like Slack Shack. They make you order yourself on the kiosk, which, is very poorly designed. I wanted a simple plain cheeseburger. Every time I went to edit the order, it changed something else. I then went to correct those changes, and it changed another thing! After playing with it for 10 minutes, I finally got frustrated, and demanded for an actual person to take my order. He put it in, and I still had to wait another 30 minutes before I even received my food...and it wasn't even hot! This is insane! Not only did Roy Rogers taste better, but the service was much better too! Their system had workers cook the burgers, and put them in one of those hot lamp dispensers. All the customer had to do was pick up their burger, pay the cashier, and walk to the fixins' bar just past the register to make the burger to your liking. Plus there were tons of tables to sit down and eat. They didn't put couches in the middle of the floor. You were sitting down eating your food in less than 5 minutes. That is how you run a rest stop. Fast and efficient service. I have been driving up to Lake George every summer for 20 years. I used to time my lunch to stop at this service station, because it was a quick, tasty, and enjoyable experience. This new place makes me want to pull my hair out. After having the same horrendous experience 2 years in a row, I refuse to stop at any Applegreen stations again. They have single handedly downgraded every rest stop on the NY State Thruway. Take my advice, if you are hungry, just take the next exit off the Thruway, and find a mom and pop place to get something to eat. Your wallet and sanity...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the new Baltimore Rest Area, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. This rest area is a beautiful, new, and clean facility that offers travelers a refreshing break during their journey.
The first thing that struck me was the pristine condition of the rest area. It's clear that a lot of effort has been put into maintaining a spotless environment, which is a welcome sight for weary travelers. The well-kept facilities made for a comfortable and pleasant rest stop.
What sets this rest area apart is the inclusion of some charming little shops. It's not often you come across a rest area with shopping options, and these stores add a unique touch to the experience. Whether you're looking for souvenirs or essentials, you'll find a variety of items to purchase.
One of the most significant highlights for me was the friendly environment. The staff were warm and welcoming, which creates a sense of hospitality that makes the stop even more enjoyable. They were ready to assist and answer any questions, making you feel right at home.
In conclusion, the new Baltimore Rest Area is a fantastic addition to any journey. Its beauty, cleanliness, and the inclusion of small shops make it stand out, while the friendly atmosphere makes it a place you won't mind revisiting. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend taking a break here during...
Read moreNew York certainly knows how to underwhelm people who are visiting from out of state. If I had not been looking for shake shack I would have been sorely disappointed because there's no signs when I get off on northbound interstate 87 to the welcome center. I did ask and they did tell me where it was. There's a road that crosses the interstate where you can get Starbucks Chick-fil-A and shake shack and a taste of New York center. But what's really weird is there is no tourist information at all on this side like they really don't want to share information about New York with tourists. It is better than New York City where they have a kiosk that's on the open during conventions. They don't want to hers in New York. The food was very good. The offerings were good. But I am carrying a senior adult and when I first pulled in the parking lot I saw in front of me a gate down to prevent crossing of the road. I asked someone if there was a handicap accessible interest. The answer is no. The center is not handicapped friendly. There is a crosswalk further up with no signs and lots of yellow barriers. No place to let children safely out or send you your adults and there is a busy road that you have to cross to get to the center. New York would be very helped if they would take information from New Jersey on how to open a welcome and rest area on...
