Gina, Denise, and Dr. Wilkes are the best in the business.( I’m completely blanking out on the staff members name who works the lenses and repairs behind the glass but she has helped us multiple times in the past and also extends a welcome smile every visit )

My family have been using them for the past 5- 6 years and we love multiple things about them:

They care. I’m never rushed in the office and they truly get to know you. Always a friendly smile for purchases, exams or adjustments… which Im there a ton for :)

Selection : they have an excellent variety of frames to pick from. They are always on top of new trends in frame wear and have those stocked and ready to go. If you have something different you are looking for they will work with their suppliers and get it in. Multiple times our family wanted either a larger frame, or a different color and they worked to get those in for us.

Personalized shop: Big Shops are fine, but I always felt like a name on a clipboard. Akron Optical is a small independently run shop that gives you that feeling of how things used to be run. They will make it right until you are satisfied with your purchase. I have 4 larger corporate chains closer to me and I make the drive to Akron because of this. They advise you if you have vision coverage and help you get the best value with that coverage, if no coverage, I’ve seen them work with people to get a nice frame that looks like a million bucks.

If you are close or want that personal touch I would highly recommend you stop in. When you’re done Akron has some quaint shops to browse as well as one of my new favorite pizza places to grab a slice.

My husband was loading our suitcases into our car in Chicago when the glasses frame snapped. We went from optical to optical from Illinois to New York State. No one wanted to help us!! While staying in Buffalo, we call other places and they didn’t wanted to help. First thing in the morning, we decided to stop at this optical in Akron. I used to think highly of thier service I have been going there for years. However the last few times i have had interactions with them i felt rushed or i didnt find them as helpful and friendly. I actually like my glasses I bought online better than the ones my insurance paid for that I bought at this shop.
