Dr Procaccino performed my gallbladder removal surgery July 2004 at what was then North Shore Hospital. The day of the surgery I told him, I feel like there's a stone stuck somewhere. He performed my surgery but didn't look for a rogue stone. I stayed at the hospital overnight. My urine was brown the next morning. Even though I urinated in a catch all, the nurses never even looked at it. I noticed it, but didn't know what it meant until after the fact. I went home, spiked a fever shortly after, the whites of my eyes turned yellow. I called his office. The next day, I went to a gastroenterologist in Manhasset who was a colleague of Dr. Procaccino, it was confirmed that there was in fact a stone stuck in my bile duct. A second procedure was scheduled for the following day to have the stone zapped out. I was the mother to a newborn so I was relieved to just feel better and to be able to resume taking care of my new baby. With that said, my liver has never been the same. I'm not a drinker at all but I do have some liver challenges and damage. My regular gastro dr said what Dr Procaccino did was negligent and that I should have sued him.
