We enjoy visiting unusual, interesting, and out-of-the-ordinary places, especially if they have some local or regional history attached to them. And it's not often these days that you hear of a small retail business that's still operating in the same building much as it did well over 100 years ago. After reading about the Northville 5 & 10 store, we added it to our bucket list and then looked for a good opportunity to visit here. We finally got that opportunity during a recent trip to the southern Adirondacks in mid-October. Inside and out, the store is very vintage and appears mostly unchanged over the years. It has two floors and a basement, but the basement is off limits to customer shopping. This store serves more as a general store for apparel and a wide variety of supplies and essentials for the community and surrounding area. Between the two floors, there's quite a bit to shop here. We spent something less than 90 minutes and bought a few novelty gifts for family. The staff we interracted with were friendly, and we're glad we finally got to experience this vintage and historical icon. If you're within reasonable driving distance of Northville, then it's worth a visit here to support a local small business with historical significance. Enjoy, and thanks...
Read moreWell there was a blonde haired blue-eyed angel at work there. I didn't get her name I don't know if she fell from heaven I assume because the hair on the back of my neck stood up when she looked into my eyes unfortunately she had a wedding ring on. Maybe one day we'll meet again at my lake house. It doesn't matter to me if she's a flatlander and raises cows! Seriously the Northville 5 and 10 is amazing! I'm 52 years old and I've been going there my entire life and nothing has changed! It's refreshing in this day and age to be greeted with a friendly face and not a robot! But make sure you have enough time in your busy schedule because you could spend hours just looking at the hundreds of thousands of...
Read moreBEST. PLACE. EVER! talk about customer service orientated. It is a very quaint store, with a lot of items, and candies. I looked around the entire 1st floor (there were more floors, but my handicapped brother did not want to use the chair climber they had). My brother was waxing nostalgic over the old time candies he saw, he never left the candy and fudge display case at the front of the store. Very polite, very friendly, very accommodating to my brother and his walker. We do not get up north much, but when we do, we definitely be paying the five and dime another visit! The person/people who one that store should be very happy with the employees that work for...
