I must admit that I was not nearly as thrilled with the hotel as I was with the restaurant, although it had its up points as well as its downs. First of all, many of the “down” points were probably only due to my status as a senior citizen, so those may not even apply to most people. The hotel room itself (the “Natural Mystic Suite”) was very attractive. It’s clear that whoever decorated the place had an artist’s eye, as the furnishings, wall hangings, furniture and wall colors were very nicely done.||||The problems I had with the actual hotel started with the entry itself. It was through a narrow door and then up a VERY steep flight of 18 stairs, some of which became irregular at the top. For a senior to have to lug a suitcase and other items up a flight of stairs that steep is a recipe for disaster, and not recommended. Once I got up to the room, I noticed that there was no stand on which to place my suitcase. Having an artificial hip, I didn’t want to put it on the floor as bending is a bit of an issue. I mentioned getting something to the owner downstairs, and he said I could use “the bench” in the room for my suitcase. There was no bench in my room. I ended up using the night stand after moving the lamp and other stuff to the floor.||||There was a television and two different remotes in the room, but I could not figure out how to use them. I turned the set on, fiddled with the cable box down below, and tried everything else, but could not get anything on the screen, so I gave up on that too.||Other quirks came up during my stay as well. For example, there was no desk in the room, so I cleared all the stuff of a chest of drawers and used my laptop on that. Not comfortable, but it worked. Then, a little after 7:00 AM, the power went out in the entire room. It didn’t stay out for long, just enough to be inconvenient. When I went in to take a shower, I turned the hot water knob up all the way, and got water that was barely lukewarm. It was warm enough to take a shower, but certainly not hot. (To be completely honest, it did turn hot at about the ten-minute point, just as I was getting ready to get out of the shower.)||||One other thing to know about this hotel; the hallways are not carpeted, but wood, and the walls are straight and also wood/plaster. Because of this, any noise in the hallway echoes down the hall and sounds very loud, so it can awaken you during the evening if anyone comes or goes.||||Also, be aware if you stay here, do not oversleep. As a fellow working on the floor last night informed me, the checkout time is 10:00 AM, versus the normal noon or 11:00 AM, so be up on time!||||In summary, the rooms in this place are very pretty, and I would have enjoyed staying here when I was younger. I really didn’t mind it this time, although I will probably head towards something more geared towards seniors on my next visit...
Read moreWe were disappointed when we had dinner with friends at the Timeless Tavern on Saturday night, June 2. The temperature was quite warm to hot in the restaurant. When we asked our waitress about this, she stated that the air conditioning was on, and there was nothing they could do about the temperature. We found this to be a puzzling statement, but continued on with dinner. One of our party ordered the strip steak, which was surprisingly grizzly at one end. It was better in the middle, but was cooked more rare than the medium ordered. The other meals were ok. This restaurant still offers soup and salad with their entrees, which is rare these days. The soup is always good and loaded with content. The temperature in the restaurant continued to get hotter the longer we were there. As we were leaving, we asked another server about the temperature being so hot in the restaurant. (It was much cooler outside, by the way.) That server repeated the exact same phrase that our waitress had told us.."air conditioning is on..etc." Obviously something was very wrong with the air conditioning that evening. It appears that management had told the servers exactly what to say. Management should have just been honest and said there was a problem, and apologized for the situation.Their attitude was flippant. Have to say that the restaurant and bar had pretty much cleared out by 8:15 pm on a Saturday night! One of our friends wrote an email to the owner afterwards about this situation. The owner never responded. This behavior does not indicate good customer relations or even common courtesy. We will be taking our business elsewhere for the foreseeable future. There are lots of other restaurants in the area. We had been to Timeless many times prior, but that will not be the case this summer. We are telling all are friends and neighbors about this lack of good customer service. There was one other time a few years ago when the owner told us he needed our table, when we were lingering talking with friends after our meal was finished. We had been planning to order dessert and coffee, when our waitress came back, but we left instead. It appears the owner needs some schooling in how to...
Read moreMy wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner on a Wednesday evening. My wife turned my attention to a quaint looking building which we quickly realized was a restaurant. We found parking around the side of the building. As we entered, we were met by a gentleman that asked if we had reservations. Since we didn't, we were seated at a booth in the bar area. The dining room looked very nice but the booths were clean and comfortable and we were happy to get a seat as there were many people entering after us that had reservations and the restraint was quickly filling up. We were surprised at the ambiance. Busy yet quiet. Our Server, Alexia, was knowledgeable and very personable. She provided great service. The food was spectacular. Honestly, I wasn't prepared for what turned out to be an excellently prepared Salmon Peach. Perfectly cooked salmon with a peach glaze that was mouthwatering delicious. My wife also raved about her Seafood Stuffed Sole. The food, service and ambiance were way more than we expected. It was a very pleasant experience that we will happily look forward to in the near future. With reservations this time. We would highly recommend this restaurant if you are...
