Unfortunately like many others, when you look at actual reviews that didnât take place while they were doing some incentive for people to leave reviews for giveaways my time at the commons was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Like others have stated their maintenance people are good but what they dont inform why about is all the fines they charge for simple things like clogged drains. It gets worse when you realize that they donât just stop at maintenance to find ways to charge you. They try and lure you with âamazing dealsâ not telling you that the best deals are only reserved for first time customers and that their lotto type drawings are rigged(you can ask people who have lived their and worked their itâs not a huge secret. Or just look at other reviews that mention the same thing). All that aside the buildings are fine but the âamenitiesâ they talk about are easily closed or threatened to be closed âexamples include having non members pay for parties in the clubhouse where residents have to pay to go, just to use the clubhouse. Their shuttle says it runs everyday, the exceptions being days it doesnât feel like running which youâll find out is a lot. Guests are only permitted to stay over like 3 days in a month and they will mention that to you. They also apparently hold the right to come Into your com whenever they feel like, as I found out when during 2 different events someone walked into my room while I was showering. To sum it up, yes the building is nice and if you donât feel you will ever need any maintenance or assistance from staff for anything then maybe this place is suitable for you, otherwise take your hundreds of $s a month and go put it into a better and most likely...
Read moreLakeside Commons is not worth your time, energy or peace of mind. I have been here at lakeside for a total of 3 years now. For the most part lakeside isnt anything special but its not completely awful either.
However where this place takes the cake as the worst place in oswego to go to dorm is the management. Ive been having issues with my roommates for a while now approximately two full months at the start of march, and yet i have yet to even hear from management itself. I go every week or so to the front desk for updates and to see what can be done about the situation and itâs infuriating how much they bend the truth to you. Granted theres a few people that actually try to help like the employees hannah and pj. However much as the management would like everyone to believe that they care about the residents and try to keep a good image, its completely false. They couldnât care less about the average tenet only the money they frisk for rent every month. Which by the way is completely overpriced considering the current rental market in oswego.
But the worst part is ontop of that the actual complex is one of the most unsafe places to be in general. Its insanely easy to break into the houses via the window and it seems like theres a conflict that happens here every other week. If your a new tenet looking for a place to crash, Do not choose lakeside commons. As much as the 5-star reviews are there to mislead you, they just arent the truth about this place. Its very poorly managed, you are going to feel like livestock because of the constant hammering for rent and the people who manage this place only see you as an additional source of income not a...
Read moreThis complex has a lot of potential, but the incompetent and misleading property management makes it not worth your time or money. I signed my lease renewal for the upcoming academic year early, because according to their barrage of social media posts, the rates were going to go up. The lease I was sent at the time reflected an increase of $30 per month, and I reached out to the office to confirm this was the case and was informed in writing that the rates went up and would continue to increase.
Fast forward to February and they sent out a message saying âMarch Madnessâ had begun, and people who sign now can receive a discount of $50 per month. Since it appeared that I was misled in order to secure an early signature, I reached out to their office trying to figure out why there was such a disparity and received no response. I then contacted their community manager listed on the website, and was informed she is no longer employed there.
On top of all of this, I and numerous others went back and forth with property management and the third-party company that manages the internet at the property for MONTHS, trying to resolve such non-functional internet that I often had to go to campus to complete coursework. We were given little to no assistance the entire time, and the issue was only resolved once I filed a federal complaint with the FCC. In both situations, it seemed clear that they are more interested in collecting your rent than assisting their residents, which is not acceptable at this price point. Also, itâs worth noting that many of these five star reviews are heavily incentivized (i.e. leave a review to enter...
