The Pies Guys Pizzeria & Fish Fry — Restaurant in Town of Oswego

UPDATE: My wife has food poisoning now. Literally never ever again. Just read through the other reviews and apparently this has been an issue now for OVER A YEAR. They either need new management or to go out of business.

Please actually read this review and save yourself some money. I spent my time writing this review so your dinner wasn't ruined like mine.

Some backstory - I've lived in Oswego for over 5 years now and on and off have had Pie Guys throughout that time. Quite honestly, a few years ago it was not bad, but it also wasn't good either... It was just fine. About a year ago we had a horrible experience and decided to patronize other local food spots instead.

Fast forward to today; my family decided to give Pie Guys a chance again, and I heavily regret that decision and it will never be a mistake I make again, and this review will detail why.

We ordered a large Buffalo chicken pizza, an order of loaded fries, and 10 buffalo wings. The person on the phone wasn't too friendly or responsive and seemed like they were possibly distracted. They took the order, gave the total and said "we'll work on it". A time estimation would be nice, but that's not a big deal. We ordered on a Sunday for delivery and it took about an hour and 15 minutes until our food arrived. Once we received our food there was an issue with each item, so I'll break it down piece by piece.

Buffalo chicken pizza - it was literally room temperature. Not hot, not sort of hot like it cooled on the way from the delivery drive - but room temperature. For context, the cheese was hard to the touch and did not stretch but instead "broke" when I separated the slices. On top of that, the breaded chicken they use was beyond horrible quality. It was either old chicken that they repurposed (from another menu item?), previously cooked in the past or something else because it was barely edible. By "edible" I mean it was extremely hard to chew and extremely unpleasant. To make matters worse, the amount of chicken on the pizza for what they charge for it should be at least a class A misdemeanor.

Loaded fries - more room temperature food. Have you ever melted cheese on top of something and it's really nice and stretchy? You can picture it right? Well this was not that at all.

Can you picture what microwaved shredded cheese looks like on top of fries and then you waited 15 - 20 minutes (at least) to THEN try and eat it? So you get a hard shredded cheese blob that all the fries stick together to? That is this. Flavorless and under seasoned in general if that couldn't make matters worse.

Buffalo wings - ordered 10 wings extra crispy and hot. We got 10 wings and that was the extent of what they got correct. The skin on the wings was the antithesis of crispy - loose skin that was a little suspect to say the least (more on this in a second). To their credit, the buffalo sauce was pretty good, but that is about where the high marks end. The first wing was just fine (minus the lack of skin actually seeming even remotely fried) but the second and third wings were not. The second wing's skin was rubbery and after biting into the wing it was UNDERCOOKED. Pretty unacceptable especially for chicken. Spit it out and decided to try one more because I was hoping it was just unlucky. That one was ALSO UNDERCOOKED. Threw the whole thing out.

Total order was around $60 after delivery and tip. I will never come back to Pie Guys ever again and I strongly suggest anyone reading this review to consider any of the other local establishments for decent food, a better value, and better service all together.

I ordered through DoorDash, it is common for this restaurant to not stay on top of the order status on their end through the app. I had mistakenly used the wrong address. The address was my work address. My office was closed. when I called to troubleshoot the issue the restaurant had told me that the food had already been delivered, had been accepted by someone, and there was nothing they could do. This of course wasn’t true because I order my food at 5pm and my office closed at 4. They had not updated the delivery status on there end or mine so there would have been know way of knowing that. Instead of trying to find a solution I was yelled at by the manager on dutie and told that I was out of luck and I should have used to correct address. I was then told that they would not be making “free food” to send out. This was at 6:30 on December 23rd. I am not sure who the manager would have been but I would like to note that. This issue was easily resolved because I always leave a note to have my drivers call me. The driver called me with an eta and I was able to update my address. If anyone at this business had bothered to update the application I could have resolved this issue without a phone call, but because no one was effectively doing there job I had no information for the driver, so I could not contact my delivery driver to update the address with them. This behavior was truly disgusting. I have never been treated like this but anyone, let alone someone who I was trying to buy...

Ordered $35 worth of food. Over the phone. Got two orders of wings, Fried Mushrooms, and a Small Chef salad. I asked for one order of the wings with no sauce on the wings. And Mild and Garlic sauces on the side and to make them extra crispy and made it very apparent that I wanted it like that. Ordered at 8:15pm. Order didn't show up until 9:30pm. My wings were cold by then....obviously. Then when they arrived. The delivery guy forgot the Salad and said he had to go back and get it. I went to check my food. Wings were cold. And they totally forgot to give me ANY sauce in the order, which were supposed to have MILD and Garlic. So I called and told them to please give me mild and garlic sauce when they returned with the Salad. Didn't show back up until 10:30pm, literally another HOUR after calling. When they arrived back with the salad after reheating my wings, while waiting to the sauces, to come to find out they didn't even bring the MILD sauce and the salad didn't have all the ingredients listed on the menu!! I understand if your busy but the incompetence of the people forgetting the stuff was enough to make me NEVER order from there EVER again. Especially, after I was super nice and gave an almost $10 tip and had to eat reheated wings. Even the fried mushrooms were cold and gross. Never again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
