On September 22, 2022, my significant other and I, (69 and 66 respectively), went into to Verizon retailer on Pine Hollow Road, Oyster Bay, NY because my iPhone 5 was at end-of-life.
We are both retired and on fixed income so I did not want to spend what it would have taken to upgrade to the top-of-the-line iPhone. We researched the options and decided that the new IPhone SE 2022 3rd gen was as close to the iPhone 5 I had and being that it was a phone that was introduced in 2022 it should take me many years into the future. We made the salesperson aware of our choice and clearly mentioned that we wanted the iPhone SE 3rd gen. The salesman made small talk with us and found out we were both retired. We finished our transaction, went home and promptly ordered a case for the phone from Amazon. The case arrived a few days later and my significant other put the phone in the case for me. This was his first time handling the phone and he noticed that the cellular signal was not 5G which it should have been. Further investigation showed that the phone was a 2020 model which is 2nd gen. That phone was discontinued in March of this year. I suppose the retailer was trying to dump old inventory on us. We were charged $410.00 for the 2020 2nd gen phone which sells for $149.99 at Target. In other words, we were ripped-off for a discontinued model.
I feel we were deceived and taken advantage of, quite possibly because of our senior status. While the phone is an upgrade from what I had, it is not what I wanted or asked for and will not take me as far into the future as I had planned.

   Read moreI finally decided to get a new iPhone. I went to the Verizon store in East Norwich( next to Marioâs pizza). I met Alex who explained my options and then I asked him to help me change my payment method. He was incredibly helpful and btw, everytime he spoke to Verizon, there was an issue with Verizonâs system. He also never blamed Verizon for the trouble and was so loyal to the brand. I commend him! Honestly, I would have given upâŚ. It took hours back and forth BUT he NEVER gave up and kept his cool and patience. I never would have had the patience that he displayed. I left with my old phone BUT HE KEPT TRYING AND FINALLY GOT IT DONE. I just picked my new phone up and he transferred all my information in the time he said he would.
He even showed me how to connect it to my car.
I have found that customer service is definitely not how it should be anywhere⌠anymore. .EXCEPT FOR Alex and this Verizon store. He was WONDERFUL⌠knowledgeable , kind and full of patience!!!
I highly recommend his store in East Norwich and will be sending my family there too.

   Read moreAll this time I use to do business at the big Verizon corporate location in Hicksville and I use to wait on line and wait for hours and still didnât get enough help to setup my phone, I was talking to My friend Kelly about my old iPhone 8 Plus giving me issue I donât have much time to go to the big store and wait for hours she referred me this location our local Verizon store in oyster bay which she was highly referring me, so I took time to stop by at our local Verizon shop I met Alex the rep and his team was excellent friendly courteous took care of me got me a new phone and iPad with awesome deal which Verizon was running and moved all my information from my half working phone to the new phone and setup my phone the way I like it and guide me to do autopay so I can save more money I am thankful to my friend Kelly who referred me this location I will do the same refer all my family and friends to this shop going forward thanks Alex and his team...
