Design Solutions is a delightful store with wonderful custom made items that entice you to take a look just to feel good. They carry superb merchandise in small quantities for every occasion. I walk in the boutique store often, sometimes once a week just to refresh my senses. I love looking at the furniture and creative lighting for sale always taking a look in Design Solutions's window as I walk by. They have the most delightful children's handmade playthings with hand-painted greeting cards designed to give your family a smile during a special celebration. Adult greeting cards and gifts are painstakingly handmade as well. If I want a special greeting card I always go to Design Solutions finding something else special while there that I want to purchase. Colorful designer tables of every size contemporary chairs with multiple shelves of magical items designed with love for all ages and custom made furniture designed with the customer in mind grace this lovely store in the center of downtown New Canaan. The owner only buys top of the line items to showcase in her beautiful store. The feeling is warm clean and modern. Design Solutions is the most charming small boutique that I visit regularly with moderate pricing considering the handmade nature of their custom made merchandise. It's my favorite store for special artistic design and products just waiting for you to take them home. I’ve bought numerous items from this store over the years, despite enduring such attitude from the salespeople almost every time . I decided to go today to buy a new set of everyday water glasses and I remarked to my spouse before going, “I hope they don’t give me a hard time for bringing the baby with me.” Well, incredibly enough, I walked into the store with my son in a travel stroller, and one of the salespeople stopped me (literally stood in front of me, blocking my way) within 3 feet of the door. She babbled about there not being enough room to get around the corners of the store and I asked her what she wanted me to do and her response was to repeat the same thing several times. The people behind the counter need an attitude adjustment, pronto! Bordering on the rude side. And their gift wrapping needs much improvement and to be season appropriate. I bought a Christmas gift after all, not an ordinary gift. The paper is gray with white polkadots. If you can get past their attitude, all of the ladies there, and hyper-inflated prices, then it’s a nice shop for gifts and homeware. Part of a brick and mortar shop “charm”, is the customer service they provide. Well if that’s missing then….
