The food here is not bad. It's not spectacular, but for pizza in the suburbs you could do worse. However, since the latest change in ownership, the service is atrocious!
If you order delivery, there is a $2 charge. If you pay with a credit card, there is a $0.55 charge (noted in faded red ink on pink paper on the register). And please check your bill, because twice now they have added extra items to my order (ie: charging for 2 orders of harlic knots when I only ordered 1).
The final straw came yesterday. My mom wanted the clams appetizer, but she doesn't like chopped clams so I asked one worker if they were chopped or whole. He said he would check but never did. I asked another worker and he assured me they were whole clams. After a very long wait, a plate of chopped clams were presented to us! I brought them back to the counter and said I didn't want them. When it came time to pay the bill, we had to wait while the staff made half hearted explanations to the woman in front of us why the veggie slice she ordered had meat on it. When it was our turn, I paid before I realized we were charged for the clams! I said, "I don't think I should have to pay for something we couldn't eat because your staff doesn't know the description of your food." And the cashier nastily told me there was nothing she could do about it. But then I realized that I was double charged for the garlic knots. As she huffed about how she didn't know how to reverse the charge, the person who told me about the clams came over to help and I explained everything and he adjusted the bill for the knots and the clams. But going out for pizza shouldn't be such an ordeal. Do yourself a favor and order from Coal House a few miles...

Place is always clean and service is with a smile.
There are only 4 tables to dine in though so finding a seat at lunch could be a challenge as many other trades like to have lunch here as well.
Lost a star because I find the crust lacks texture and flavor. Lately, the crust has been dry and chalky. I like my pizza crust a little crispy but soft and doughy enough underneath allowing me to fold the slice. The crust was disappointing enough that I couldn't eat it when finished with the toppings.
The crust at competing pizzerias that I frequent for lunch has taste and texture, like fresh baked bread.
Also the price for 2 specialty slices and a 20 oz bottle of soda is $13.25 - about $2 more than similar options at my other favorite pizzerias. If you want to pay with a debit card expect to...
Read moreI’ve tried. I’ve tried to continue supporting this local establishment under “new” ownership but the quality has crumbled and the prices have exploded. $4.60 for a slice of undercooked, limp pizza? Are you serious?
Cade, the store manager, is fantastic. Super friendly, knows everyone by name – exactly what you want in a small town. But the owner now couldn’t care less about the community (refuses to participate in local events). More to the point, the product just isn’t good. They also have undisclosed credit card upcharges. And don’t bother ordering delivery. They have about a 50% error rate. Go across the street and give your business to DiNardos. Better quality and owners that care about...
