We hired Hugh for two big projects -- a deck extension that included stadium-style stairs, and a shed.

From what I understand, Old Mine Carpentry is focusing solely on furniture, cabinetry and millwork. But the following review absolutely applies to their skill, integrity and personality.

First of all, Hugh is incredibly easy to work with. He gets it. Shortly after requesting the deck project, he came back with a few detailed options and a recommendation. We went with the recco and it worked out great. No extra costs or hidden surprises. Same for the shed.

His team is also great. Every member was knowledgeable in their speciality, and all were friendly, energetic and excited to do the work.

Saving the best for last is the craft, itself. Hugh is a master craftsman, spending that little extra time to ensure the project measured up to our standards -- and to his. You sense the pride he has in his work, and that pride is more than justified.

Our deck is now the centerpiece of our backyard, a magnet for dinner parties, outdoor movies, late night drinks and morning coffee. It's the feature of our house that gets the most compliments by a long shot (sorry, in-ground pool). The shed matches the style and color of our house and integrates with our aesthetic perfectly.

We stumbled upon Old Mine shortly after moving into our house and felt like we hit the jackpot! We've done a couple of projects with Hugh and his team over the past two years - from retrofitting an existing wall to create the perfect tv nook in our weird basement to building a custom floating sideboard, shelves, and table in our kitchen. Old Mine Carpentry were recommended to me by a peer in my trade.
