Kerhonkson Diner — Restaurant in Town of Wawarsing

Tried this after a night of drinking because we wanted pancakes. The staff was all friendly and it was busy but not much of a wait. I got the sausage gravy and biscuits meal with eggs cooked medium and home fries, an order of extra crispy bacon, and the apple cinnamon short stack. Most of the time when I order medium eggs they either come out way too runny or the yolks are hard. I HATE when the whites are runny, but the cooks here made what I can only consider an absolutely perfect medium egg. The yolk was super gooey without any sign of runny white. The home fries were cooked perfectly also, with onions and peppers that weren’t overpowering and a nice crispy crust on most of the potatoes. Crispy bacon is also usually a disappointment when I order it places, either bordering on burnt or still too bendy, but the bacon here was perfectly hard without any burnt bits on it. The sausage gravy had a ton of sausage bits but no large chunks (which I don’t like), and the gravy flavor was perfect. My favorite part was the apple cinnamon pancakes though. I was expecting pancakes with like a topping of apple cinnamon, but they had managed to make a perfect pancake with the apples cooked right in. And the apples weren’t that canned apple pie filling either, it looked like it was fresh chopped apple mixed with cinnamon and a little bit of sauciness but not enough to make the pancakes soggy. Good food, typical diner menu... a little short which is sometimes good, great prices, family atmosphere, lots of locals some in pajamas lol. Plenty of parking, food came out quickly and nice and hot. Waitress was just awful which is why only 4 stars.... almost made it 3 stars she was so bad but maybe we were just unlucky with that one employee... we came during a rush which wasn't terrible but she seemed overwhelmed and flustered. Two sets of dirty cutlery under the table, never checked on us after ordering, never refreshed coffee, screwed up my wife's order and couldn't catch her to correct it.... had to get up and literally chase her down, then she didn't go in and correct it immediately but continued bussing the four.... only four tables she was having a hard time serving.... by the time the 2 hot sausages came from the kitchen we had finished our meals and gotten another cup of coffee by going to the counter.... it was bad but maybe she was just having a bad morning or trying to do too much rather than paying attention to diners needs. I wouldn't even give them one star but I had to to leave a review. My daughter and I went there this past Sunday. They were busy but we were seated right away. Our waitress was very sweet came and took our order promptly. We were told by the waitress that it was going to take about 15-20 minutes to get our order as they were busy. My daughter and I was okay with that. 45 minutes later I asked the waitress if our food was going to be out soon she went and checked and they hadn't even started it yet. It wasn't much just scrambled eggs and home fries. So my daughter and I had somewhere to be do I went over to the register where the owner was and asked to pay for my drink as we weren't going to wait any longer for our eggs and home fries. This is where my problem lies. The owner was so rude to me and I am a local not someone passing through. Instead of apologizing to me she very rudely said to me " what do you expect, we are busy, you can't expect your food to come right out" I explained to her that we waited very patiently for 45 minutes. I paid her for my drink and I will never go back. What a rude...
