Blue Barn Marketplace — Local services in Town of Shandaken

Cute store, but the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional, and sadly we walked out. We had picked out a book, some bar ware, a baking pan, and a vinyl record. We asked if there was any wiggle room on the price of the vinyl because it was pretty beat up, and we received a firm “no”.

No problem, doesn’t hurt to ask.

Then she told us that the bar ware was only being sold as a lot with all of the other bar ware in the box, not individually, so we said we didn’t want all that and put those pieces back.

Then she rolled her eyes at her friend.

Then she told us that the book was only being sold with the entire bin of books we picked it from, some of which were duplicates of the same book, so we said we didn’t want all those books and went to put it back.

Then she said “ok, we’ll sell one book – can you afford a book?”

This place is an absolute gem. The owner Faye is very friendly and there’s so much cool things to look at that are reasonably priced. The vendors who sell through her also have INSANELY good prices, absolutely couldn’t get over it. Can’t wait...
