I've been living near the brockport area for about three years, and this library is my favorite place to go. There is genuine care and effort that is put into the place and it shows. There is so much to explore, not only with books but with gifts like little crystals or puppet plushies too! I will say there is a huge problem with overpricing of certain things in the upstairs area. Sometimes the prices have been so odd that I looked up the exact product, only to find out that you could get the same thing for half of the price, unused and brand new from the manufacturer themselves. I appreciate the downstairs area a lot because there are awesome books for super cheap, I just wish that the posters that were being sold down there were more appropriate for all audiences. (You dont usually see some of these images in a library.) There are some posters of women who are being sexualized and glorified for their bodies. It sends a weird message when the library has books and toys mostly marketed for children. It is okay to have adult books but usually they are not as openly provocative as some of the posters I have seen during my visits, and I usually go with my family who consist of both adults...
Read moreWe were in town for my sister's wedding. I used to frequent this bookstore as a kid. I promised I would take my 11-year-old there before we left town. The selection is amazing! The store is super clean and well kept. The associate we spoke to diligently worked to help my son find a new series that he would be interested in. She even spoke to him about one of his favorite authors and the encounters she has had with him. (He now loves the author even more which I didn't know was possible.) I never find books that interest me anymore as an adult which makes me sad, but even I found something! It was super nostalgic and it's great to know a small local business is still booming and they are passionate about helping their customers. I would highly recommend this place to anybody and it's well worth a...
Read moreSuch a wonderful store, run by wonderful people. They take the time to get to know their patrons and their interests, and suggest things that they may not have known were available. I love shopping here, I don't do it as much as I feel I should, but I literally don't buy books anywhere else, I just need to buy more books! Lol
They sell books, toys, and some this and that. When you shop here you are supporting a family, a community. Liftbridge has been a keystone of our community for as long as I can remember, and I would love to see it be the same for my children.
If you're reading this review, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. Buy your books there, pick up some pencils, a tin of space putty, a bag of marbles, and a journal, share a bit of conversation, and a laugh...
