We caught and released fish every day, but it was more than just the fishing—it was the feeling of being grounded, unplugged, and truly connected with nature out on the river. My wife and I booked a two hour learn to fly fish lesson and we had a great experience with Matt as our guide. He taught us the basics of two different casts before we headed down to the river to fish. He displayed patience while we honed our technique on the lawn. All gear was provided as advertised. As avid hikers we enjoy being outdoors and fishing on the river was both exciting and tranquil. I still need a lot of practice but I'm already looking at entry level gear to participate in the sport. Matt was a very knowledgeable guide who was able to answer our questions, give us pointers, and entertain us while we attempted to look like we knew what we were doing. We had a great experience with The Hungry Trout ’s two hour fly fishing package for children ages 6 and up. My 9 year old Grand Daughter surprised us this year when she said that she wanted to go fly fishing. Her 6 year old brother got on board right away with a “ME TOO ME TOO” response. I have no fly fishing experience at all but I have been fishing off and on my whole life. My experience has been salt water or fresh water ponds and streams. Our guide Reed was perfect match for the kids. Reed was patient in first teaching them how to cast with a fly rod on dry land before bringing them down to the stream for the real thing.
