Upon arriving incompetent and aggressive "chef" Brad informed us we would not be seated without a reservation. This in spite of the fact that I had called the day before and was told a reservation was not needed for the tavern. He simply didn't want to hear it. When I asked if the owner was available he said no , gave me FIS name, and said he didn't care if I contacted him. Judging by the people waiting for tables and the way the staff
I failed to mention that the tavern had a note on the door indicating the tavern menu would be served in the restaurant and to go up there to be served. And, as I mentioned in my review I had called on Saturday to inquire about a tavern reservation for Sunday night. I was not informed that the Tavern was closed.
As far as the staff being uncomfortable, they were clearly uncomfortable when we arrived because they were scurrying around before a word was said. It then took 5 minutes to acknowledge us at the reception desk.
As we left we saw another couple try to enter the tavern. However, by that time the note on the door had been removed. Some businesses survive on their reputations for a time, but fail in the long run as they alienate customers. Looks like this is one of those as the staff and surrounding look as if they need refreshing.
Finally, the owners response completely mischaracterizes the interaction. I simply followed the note posted on the tavern and was met by someone who obviously had no clue what his staff had posted. At that point any competent customer facing person would have apologized and at least tried to accommodate us. Instead, he simply got loud and belligerent about not serving a party without a reservation.
Frankly, I think the place was short staffed and he was...
Read moreWe feel wronged. December 26, our last evening before heading home to Canada and we chose a nearby restaurant. I looked at their online menu which was the same for both the restaurant and the pub. Reasonable prices and a variety of menu items. How wronged we were!
When we arrived, we were handed a totally different menu where the appetizers were the price of the main course from the online menu! I thought I had made a mistake in restaurants but since we were there and had no other option, I coughed up what would be a very expensive meal, the day after Christmas.
Total for me and my two children, one main course each: $131.76
I called them today to ask why the menu we were handed was not on their web site and the gentleman had this to say: our web guy put the « pub » menu in the restaurant section! How convenient.
To the gentleman that I spoke with, no, I did not think of asking if there was another menu because, Sir, this situation never happens! The reason we chose this restaurant was for the reviews and the price range. You have failed us. It is your duty to see that the online information is accurate.
To Management: I would appreciate a gesture in the form of refund. If you do respond to this review, do not attempt to transfer the blame to the client....
Read moreI really hate to leave this review… but I have to. Since this restaurant/resort changed owners, service has gone way down hill. We are locals and the last six times we had ordered food to go, the person that answers the phone says she will take our name and number and “they” will call you back when “they” are ready to take our order. They have only called back one time and that was 30 minutes later just to take the order! I understand being busy! I understand staffing issues! I get it. But WHY? Either say you are not taking orders or take the order and give us a time when it will be ready! Simple. Don’t take a message and never call back. Remember, we locals are here year round. We patronize the local businesses even during the off-season. Like I said, I hate to leave this review, but something needs to change here. By the way, the food here is very good. The wait staff (in person dining) is very good. I hope that management/ownership reads this review and makes some changes. Until then, we are no longer going to even attempt take out and are not going to bother with in-house...
