Have an amazing stylist named Brittany who is talented, skilled, and amazing at grooming my beard, brows, and hair. She is extraordinarily skilled, friendly, and timely. If I was merely reviewing her - she'd get five stars.
BUT, Elephant In The Room as an establishment does not value its customers and treats them like insolent cattle. They schedule their appointments down to five minute increments to maximize the number of appointments the stylists can fit in during the day. This leads to a greatly diminished customer experience as they penalize you for being one minute late, and rush their people to get you through the appointment to the detriment of your experience. Also, they charge you a ten dollar fee for changing appointment times.
The premise of the business is great. Great environment, drinks, modern grooming, awesome gear... I even buy socks there. The problem is that as a loyal and regular customer who tips well and goes out of my way to go there, they make me feel like a nobody. And instead of doing what it takes to keep me happy as a customer, they patronize me and penalize me for not adhering to their militarized scheduling practices.... :(
08/25/16 UPDATE: As a result of this review, Elephant In The Room contacted me shortly after my review and apologized for the situation and assured me that they valued my patronage. They also went out of their way to prove this to me by removing the change fee that had prompted my original review.
Today, I had a great experience as always when Brittany took care of my brows and beard in amazing fashion. Free drinks, great music, good environment, interesting merchandise - I love it. As I was checked out, I was told that everything had been taken care of. THANKS EITR!!
Their gesture is much appreciated and I will continue coming here for a long while to come. While the strict scheduling was my chief complaint, I would be remiss if I did not mention that I NEVER have to wait for the stylist.... even when I am early. I suspect the scheduling methodology is why.
REVIEW: In short, go to Elephant In The Room Grooming Lounge - at...
Read moreI was forced to leave a 5 star review (thank goodness for being able to edit it later) while waiting for my friend to get his haircut.
Ok so I went with my buddy to get his haircut - to be fair, it's a pretty decent haircut - but I'm from out of town and have never been here before. So I'm sitting in the waiting area playing a game on my phone, and an employee comes up and asks while I'm waiting if I could leave a 5 star review. I kinda laughed it off because I was like you're not serious right? No he then proceeds to come up to me and explain that he and his boss are in a competition to see how many Google reviews they can get by the end of the month and he really needs me to just click 5 stars and hit submit - I'm still in my game at this point and explain that I've never been here and I'm not getting a haircut - he says "oh that's fine" and then hovers over me, looking at my phone screen waiting for me to go do it. So I close my game, look up the location and click 5 stars. I thought that would be the end of it. HE THEN GOES AND ASKS IF I CAN LEAVE A REVIEW FOR ANOTHER LOCATION AND CORPORATE OFFICE. still hovering over me and telling me how to do it.... It's been a while since I've been that uncomfortable. So if you're going for a haircut - awesome place - if you're waiting for your buddy to get his haircut, be warned, you may be asked to leave a review. Also, I'm still leaving this as a 5 star review because their haircuts are genuinely good and I don't...
Read moreFirst off, the service was amazing from beginning to end! Start you off with the beverage of your choice (beer for me, naturally) and have you seated with a barber within minutes of your appointment. While I was waiting I was admiring their vast array of beard and shaving products. Everything was quality made with an appropriate price. It took everything in me not to try and buy up the lot! Anyways, the barber/stylist Sammi verified what I was looking for in a cut and went straight to work. Every step was carefully done and with the utmost gentlest of touch. I'm bald so, where as the average Joe would just do a quick hack job with the smallest trimmers they've got, Sammi took her time and made sure not a single hair stood taller than the rest. She took the same approach to my beard and even applied some type of balm (I smell amazing btw!), then proceeded to dip my hands in wax and massage my scalp. And the prices are astonishingly low. And that's before they recognized me as a veteran. Veteran friendly, serve beer while you wait, down to earth staff, awesome prices, and I look and smell amazing?!?? Yeah, it's safe to say they have gained a lifetime customer. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for good half hour-hour of you time and could use your ears...
