Fan Fortress — Local services in Tulsa

Was a loyal customer to their competitor for 3 years. Worked there for 1. Heard all the bad gossip from Vintage Toy Mall about Fan Fortress. NONE OF IT is true. Everything VTM does, this store does a million times better. (Including the window art.) Better organisation not hampered by disorganised vendors and lazy/rude employees/management. Cleaner, Honest, and reasonable prices. They are fair and balanced and dont make purchasing offers they cant back up (Vtm never buys back for 30%. Usually 8-12% and they blame every factor they can for being cheap). The purchases and trades are always fair. The staff are very attentive, welcoming, and polite. They have maintained the same staff since they opened, so you'll always see a friendly and familiar face, and they all are very helpful and know their product well. I dealt with Fan Fortress one time at a comic con booth and they were really nice to me so I wanted to visit their physical location even though I live about three and a half hours away. Today 12/28/2020 I drove all the way there as a road trip and to my disappointment it was one of the most unpleasant visits to a toy store ever. The clerk (don’t know her name) was very rude and blunt, not only to me but to my father as well. And she watched us the what seemed to be the whole time we browsed the store as if we were shoplifting. Didn’t ask us any questions like what we were in for, just stared at us until we left the store. I figured she might have had a bad but another customer came in (I suppose a regular) and she was really polite and talkative to them, assisting them in what ever they needed. Very unhelpful,...

I’ve always love popping in here—been a bunch of times and have snagged some fun finds. This last visit felt a little different though: the place was super quiet (no music or TVs), so it got a bit weird. Just always staring and weird noises. A little background soundtrack would go a long way. Price-wise, some tags felt more “rare grail” than “weekend score” for clearances items from walmart, I’ve seen a similar clearance biker mice at a big-box store around $24.99, so $149.99 here surprised me. Also noticed a few dusty/cobwebby boxes, which probably means those goodies have been waiting for the right home for a while. I am sure their store is more eBay focused but dang. Still a cool spot with great potential—would love to see some tunes, a quick dust-off, and a fresh price check. I’ll be back...
