I was at Boston Deli a few days ago for lunch and had a terrible experience.. The man with the ponytail who took my order was rude and was the last time I was there. I saw a Mexican Coke which I love and occasionally drink in the case by the counter and told him i was going to think about it. He was ringing my order up and I walked over to the case, opened the door and the Coke bottle shot out like a rocket shattering everywhere. The restaurant got quiet, it was so loud. My feet were and sandals were wet. I stood there shocked for a moment afraid to move as there were several shards of glass around my feet and further away. The guy at the counter first response was you said you were gonna think about it, I would’ve warned you about that My friends who were at the table saw him roll his eyes after it happened. Really???? Like I was to blame! What if a small child had opened the case. It would have hit them right in the face, or an older person whose balance was unsteady, it could have knocked them down. He did not ask if I was ok, he just yelled out for someone to come clean it up. That guy comes out clearly annoyed and just starts cleaning it up not saying a word to me. The whole incident was disgusting. That case is clearly malfunctioning and they could care less. There is no sign on the case that says please ask for assistance. It is clearly there for customers to help themselves to the drinks. I rarely write reviews on restaurants or other service oriented businesses. Occasionally, I have written reviews for Customer Service or something in particular about a business that was exceptional. I am only writing this review to warn people that the customer service at this restaurant is poor at at least in the situation I was involved in. It could have been much worse and someone could have been seriously injured by this flying coke bottle. It was not only the danger of this incident, was the utter lack of concern and dismissive attitude and the sense that I was to blame for their malfunctioning equipment. I will never return to this restaurant and neither will the...
Read moreAfter having this restaurant on my list for years, I finally strolled in on November 11th (2024) for lunch. I was invited here by a friend who already had positive praise for this spot.
We arrived almost exactly at noon. The interior occupies a corner building and has two entries, one operates as a market while the other is the deli/restaurant. The deli side is rather straightforward: self-serve beverage station, standard lighting with sufficient windows that invites just enough sun inside, a pastry stand at the checkout station, a mix of tables and booths. I ordered the Applewood Smoked Roast Beef Sandwich with the Asparagus Soup (soup of the day). She ordered the Applewood Roasted Beef Au Jus (which I was jealous of). It wasn't crowded, being Monday, so we sat in a booth after we ordered. The food didn't take long at all, 10 minutes MAXIMUM, and came out steaming! I dug into the soup first, which I wish I would've gotten the bowl instead of the cup because I'm not much of an asparagus fan but the soup convinced me otherwise. No distinct flavor but it was thick, smooth and tee'd up the sandwich as it should. The Roast Beef sandwich was great! A good balance of ingredients and the bread, soft, toasted and buttered, made for a perfect finish. Unfortunately I didn't get to try my friend's Au Jus Roast Beef sandwich but it will not escape me next time! Even though we didn't need or see much of her, our server Sarah) was great by taking our order, bringing us refills, and processing the check. Overall, I couldn't have chosen a better place to check-in on our lunch break.
You can enjoy elaborate meal for lunch as much as you'd like but at the end of the day, there's nothing more nostalgic or fulfilling like having a classic sandwich, pastry and soup for lunch. If you only care about efficient service and getting a great value for your buck, I'd suggest Boston Deli if you're...
Read moreI was there on Wednesday night to pick up a To-go order. I ordered 2 Italian cream with my order and when I went in, I had to wait like 5 minutes to pick my order even the restaurant wasn’t busy at the time. I picked my order and drove home. I live in BA. When I check my order I realize the two cake I ordered wasn’t there. Then I called the restaurant to inform about it. That’s the time I realize what kinda service offer. I talked to the server and told her I’m missing 2 Italian cream on the order. Her response was “ YEAH I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE THEY DIDNT GO IN THE BAG” I was expecting a response more like “we are really sorry about this we will refund your order “ since it wasn’t my mistake. Then I said I don’t wana come back since I live all the way in BA. She offer me a refund at that point. I told her that’s fine. I will come and pick it up. Then I drove back and picked up whats missing. At that time I told her if this happened at a different place they would refund the money. She smiled and said yeah I’m gonna refund both. I was okay with that and left the place. When I check my account. I saw that they haven’t done what they offered me. I called them again. And this is what I was told. Please call after 4 we don’t know nothing about what you are talking. Also they took my number saying they going to call me and never called me back. I really don’t care the about the refund. But the way you talked to me made me not wanting to come there anymore. Good food ! I don’t think anyone would be happy to be treated with an attitude at a restaurant 👎🏽
Update ! Thanks for the reply and I’m gonna change my review to 5 starts since i don’t want to put a local business down! Hope your owner/staff will treat your customers better in...
