Strongly advise against using Ace Robbins for heating services!! I’ve been a customer since 2018, paying monthly for service and maintenance, but my experience recently was horrible. On January 3rd 2025, I noticed a strong burning smell and black soot near the vents. I turned off the heat to prevent any more serious issues this could cause. The earliest they could send someone was three days later. The technician suggested the chimney might have collapsed but refused to inspect it due to snow. He said the company would reach out after the snow melted. This left my family without heat in sub-freezing temperatures. Not to mention, the 7 day forecast was at its highest 28 degrees. I couldn’t afford a hotel until Lord knows when, so I bought a space heater to keep us warm. It certainly wasn’t enough as we live in a small home with not much to insulate us from the cold. After calling the company myself the next day, we asked to send someone who wasn’t brave enough to go on the roof. That had a dusting of snow in a couple spots. This man quickly found the actual cause to be a cracked heat exchanger in the furnace. He recommended a new furnace and chimney stack. Jessica from financing reached out the following day and scheduled the installation for the soonest available opening, January 17th. I would need to provide $2,500 and a signed contract upon instillation. Turns out on the 13th day with no heat, the parts were never ordered because of a payment mix-up, causing another delay. The new appointment was on day 17 with no heat, January 21st. On the installation day, 2 men spent hours removing the old and installing a new furnace. I paid remaining $2,480 while they were cleaning up. After going outside to leave, the technicians returned to the door. Jessica, the finance contact, told them not to leave without the remaining 50% payment. Despite the contract clearly stating payment was DUE UPON COMPLETION , I had to wait for her to confirm the payment. Thank God we were blessed to at least have others who found this immoral. Friends let us borrow a space heater and even a propane heater which we got filled numerous times within 17 days. No compensation offered, no lack of emergency or care. They will leave you cold. Literally and figuratively. Trust me. You...
Read moreAce Robbins must sit around in a dark Smokey room and figure out the Max they can charge their customers for every bloody service they offer. Now they will charge $50 if you buy less then 150 gal of oil.
For a long time customer in town that's not bad enough but now the oil price is .50c more per gallon then another place in town. How is that possible!! The price has always been a dime or so higher but not that much. I'm sure they hedged oil buying as it went up over covid and they profited greatly selling at over 4.50 a gallon.
I've been buying for at least 7 years because they offered annual furnace cleanings. They insist on charging your CC before they even do the work and for about a 1/2 hr of service its 220$ which is another joke.
They were here two times a few winters ago to fix a problem and charged me over 400$ for each visit even thought the tech mis-diagnosed the problem the first time.
Then the next winter the part failed and they would wont not replace it. Not even a discount. Another $400
Called for a quote to replace my oil with nat gas furnace and again it was outrageous. It would take longer to recover the cost then i could save on switching.
Everyone is entitled to make a profit but come on man. The new generation running the business needs a lesson from the elder before its too late. Pigs get feed hogs get slaughtered.
I have no allegiance to any business and its largely based on price and i won't be taken advantage of as if they are the only...
Read moreCalled them to fix a fireplace that had some sort of meltdown. Technician was friendly enough, but when I said to him the remote no longer worked to raise or lower the flame and change the fan speed, he told me --"Oh, I didn't touch anything with the flame - and now to change the fan speed, you will need to take the (hot) screen off and use this dial underneath the fireplace." HUH?? Then it shut itself off after about a half hour and wouldn't turn back on. Turns out, the right replacement parts were not used. Also, there were two other parts that were damaged by the original meltdown that were not replaced. I called to let them know that after paying over 600 dollars, my fireplace never worked correctly. All they were able to offer was a free cleaning next year and said - "Heatilator isn't going to reimburse anything." I was trying to tell them their technician didn't seem to know what he was doing, but to no avail - and was hoping for at least a partial reimbursement of my money. This has nothing to do with the Manufacturer. I would not recommend them for gas...
