I have been using Total Tech for several years now. Throughout this time, I have been a loyal customer and have helped support their growing business. We have relied on them for all of our home and business security camera installations, as well as for business IT support. Initially, they were amazing—they showed up when they said they would and were fair with their pricing. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
One of our cameras went down, and Kevin, the owner of Total Techs, sent a technician to fix it. The technician needed to log in to adjust the settings. Although he was given the correct password, he repeatedly entered it incorrectly. After about two hours of trying to figure it out, he finally managed to get in after my wife entered the password for him. He fixed everything but then charged us $400 for his time. We didn’t think this was fair, but we paid it.
About eight months later, we needed additional cameras installed at our office. I had Kevin come over to review what we wanted so he could prepare an estimate. Part of the estimate included swapping out some of the old cameras that he had originally installed and installing new ones. When I received the estimate, I was shocked by the price—it was three times the amount of the original camera installation done two years ago.
After reviewing the estimate, I noticed that he was going to double charge me for installing cameras that were already there. I expected to be charged for labor to swap the cameras, but not for the full price of running wires and installing new cameras, which was just one of several issues I found on the estimate.
I spoke with Kevin and asked him to review the estimate again, discussing the discrepancies I was concerned about. He agreed that it wouldn’t be fair or right and said he would fix the estimate and resend it. After about a week, I hadn’t received the revised estimate, so I called to follow up. He mentioned he had been really busy but would send it right away. By the end of the day, I did receive the new estimate, which was a fair price. However, when I called to schedule the work, he would not answer the phone. He sent a message saying he would call me back, but I never heard from him.
I waited a few days and still received no response, so I called again and got an auto-reply saying he couldn’t talk and to please text. I texted him but still received no reply. I attempted to contact him three more times over the span of a month with no success.
It’s not right or fair to be double charged for services they aren't providing. The lack of transparency is disappointing.
Wonderful job on my computer. I bought All the parts and thought I could do it myself, but got stuck on installing the wiring, hard drives, GPU and wiring. So I provided all the parts for it. And they were happy to install everything even though it wasn’t what they bought. They had Wonderful customer service. Always there to help me or assist me at home with issues I had. it took a week and $648 to finish the whole PC, install my windows 11 pro retail, and get everything ready to use my pc. Would definitely recommend if not just for the customer service. Let alone the beautiful work they did to my PC. My case was a fractal meshify 2 XL, 9 black swap 140mm noctua case fans, 420mm arctic liquid freeze iii, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D cpu, 5.AMD Radeon pulse RX 7900 XTX GPU, an old disk hard drive from my previous PC 500GB, a small square storage on the back 500GB, a Samsung 2TB 990 SSD for quick storage, a Samsung 4TB 990 for my daily use and storage, gold standard EVGA supernova 1000W PSU, 2 X 32GB DDR5 ripjaw G.Skill ram. I changed out all stock fans in my case and AIO with the noctua black swap and they wired them in with the 4 prong extensions since the 3 way splitter on the AIO was 3 prong, because the stock fans didn’t need the fourth prong. This beast of a computer had a small glitch in the bios reading 08 and these guys helped me as much as possible. They did great.
